Gulf Bay Magazines, Inc. Ripped off my mother(80 years old) for several hundred dollars and refused to cancel or refund. 5 mags for 5 years,she thought she was buying one! Seminole, Florida

My 80 year old mother was contacted by a fast talking sales rep, who convinced her to buy a subscription to a magazine, at least that's what she thought, until she received a confirmation letter that said she had purchased 5 mag subscriptions for 5 years and a total of $1196. She called to tell them there was a mistake and to cancel, but they refused to cancel and refund any monies. So they reduced her payment to just under $400. I then called and told them they had taken advantage and she did not understand what she was buying.

She thought it was 1 mag for a one time fee. They refused to refund or cancel, said they had already placed the order. I called the magazine companies to file a complaint with, because gulf bay said they were contracted with the mag companies to increase their circulation. The magazine company said they did not know of this company and did not contract with them at all they also checked to see if there was an order for the magazines listed, in my mothers name, and there wasn't so I would say this is a big scam, there is no discounted prices and this was a ripoff. Let's see if she even receives any magazines at all!
