Guru.com is bunch of scums on earth.. Paid a designer Paul Brotherton paulb@cage.com, www.cage8.com $2800 to finish a project.. it started on July, and was dragged to November with Paul being a scam artist and, basically all the excuses, that he went to vacation, his family came to vizit, he has 4 kids to take care. Paul lives in  Malm Sweden and its bad enough that it takes a day or two to even get a response..
Disputed the charges with paypal, and guru.com immediately suspended my account, but taking side of the freelancer, because guru.com makes money of the freelancers and not the people who hire they, they will side with the freelancer.. I was contacted by guru from Julie Tchissi, threating me of legal action, and give the freelancer more time, mind you the project is months behind.

Julie Tchissi is a big lair- and will make everything possible to discourage you!!!

If you thinking of using Guru.com stay away they support is useless, and if you dispute anything they will never side with you as they wont make any money from you..

If you looking with Paul Brotherton, stay away he is a one man shop, have no time and will take your money, without completing your project!! the minute he collects the deposit!!!.

Stay away from Guru.com, and Paul Brotherton !!!

Paul Brotherton $ Guru.com is a SCAM

AUTHOR: Tim - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 26, 2012

I did file a rebuttal a few days ago, however isn't recorded for some reason..

You Paul Brotherton are trying so hard to defend your fraud reputation, however your won stupidity that you showed using fake identities to supposedly have one of your satisfied costumers fiercely defending someone else reputation is simply childish and stupid..

Let's pretend for a second( which is absolutely NOT the case) how did you run to this report? Were you searching for Paul Brotherton is a scam ? from a satisfied costumer ?.

Secondly, on one of your posts you've mentioned that you are in USA, well since you are a retard and don't know how to use a proxy server, you ended up in Canada.. You lack of intelligence Paul Brotherton make me feel bad for even considering you for my project..

Yes, tell me that you were visiting Canada and were aching to respond  and defend the guy who you hided..loll Who you trying to  fool you moron!!!

To add to your claims in regards to Guru positive feedback you have, you forgot to mention a little detail that Guru.com allows you to block negative feedbacks, so obviously you won't have any negative feedback including mine..
do a search on this site and similar sites such as complaintsboard and see how many people think Guru.com is a fraud..

(((link redacted)))

My complain was initiated toward Guru.com as they failed to protect me, however its time to post another one for Paul Brotherton.. Now Paul stop impersonating another person as you are making a fool of yourself!!

P.S and learn how to use a proxy server next time to show how, you are not located in Sweden you dumbo!!

Tim, you need to read more.

"The 1st two tope comments as tyu can see is the same person writing Paul Brotherton.. There isn't any client of his that would know the insides of paypal and guru case other than Paul.."

TIM, Are you SERIOUS? *I* (A client of his) never posted anything about Paypal. If you had taken the time out to READ what I wrote, I never said anything about Paypal. Paul Brotherton FROM SWEDEN has posted a message himself and HE mentioned explained about PayPal.

You might want to try using some COMMON SENSE. If I was Paul Brotherton, WHY WOULD I SIGN MY NAME AS BEING PAUL AND WHY WOULD I NOT JUST CREATE A FAKE ACCOUNT WITH A FAKE NAME.. What benefit would Paul Broterton have to create a fake account and name it HIS name.. How does that make any sense.. Geez!

Seriously Tim, you are making yourself look really ridiculous here.

#4 REBUTTAL Individual responds

Seriously?

AUTHOR: PaulB - (Sweden)

POSTED: Sunday, November 18, 2012

My name is Paul Brotherton, the programmer named in the original report. I work as a freelancer on guru.com and have done for the past 7-8 years. During this time, I have completed over 100 individual projects and have never once had anything less than 5-star feedback from my clients, putting me in the 98th percentile amongst Guru freelancers in the programming category.

Part of me just finds this ridiculous "report" absolutely nonsensical and just tells me to ignore it - anyone who knows me and has ever worked with me would know how ludicrous it is - but it seems that I have one client who has also seen (and kindly refuted) what Tim is saying then I ought to at least try to set the record straight myself.

Tim (who filed the original report) hired me on Guru some five months ago to complete a fairly large project for him. The project ran way over the estimated completion time due to a whole series of unforeseen issues - most of these delays were caused by Tim being unable to provide information I required to continue, I also had other commitments (holiday, family) that I had told Tim about prior to taking the project on and which would not in any way have affected the project had I not been previously hampered by Tim's inability to provide me with the information I needed when I needed it. So it came as no surprise to either Tim or I when the project went over the estimated time frame for completion.

This of course didn't once stop me from working on it, nor did I ever ask Tim for additional fees despite it taking much longer than expected - I foolishly considered this not to be Tim's problem, but mine for having so badly misjudged the size of the project and the difficulty Tim would have in providing me with what I needed at various stages. Tim never placed the budget for the project in escrow (as is the normal process on Guru) despite my requests, but did pay the first two invoices I sent (when the project was approximately 40% and 70% complete) which together with the 20% deposit, totaled $2800.

The first time I understood that anything was remiss was when I received an email from Guru.com telling me that Tim had asked PayPal to reverse the payment already made on the last invoice. He had done this behind my back whilst at the same time answering project related questions I was sending him via email. This was in direct breach of Guru.com's terms and conditions of course, which is what earned him his account suspension there. Guru advised me to stop working on the project immediately, which of course I did. I sent proof of work completed to Guru, who were by now involved in a dispute resolution with PayPal about the funds. It took less than a week for PayPal to review the evidence and close the case in my favour, rejecting Tim's claim that he had in any way been "scammed". Hence, I suppose, his filing this so-called "report".

The irony of all this is that had Tim not tried to rip me off by reversing payment on invoices that had already been paid for work done, the project would by now have undoubtedly been complete. The work I do for my clients and my subsequent reputation are, as a freelancer, the very basis of my livelihood and not something I take chances with. I regret that things have come to this, with Tim feeling the need not only to slander me and post my private information and photo in a (permanent) public forum, but as I don't have time or the funds this site requires for me to contest the report legally I suppose it'll just have to sit here as a warning to other freelancers about the potential risks involved in working with employers who refuse to place funds in escrow. I am sure Guru.com are more than capable of "defending" themselves and their actions in this case should they feel the need to do so, I for one am profoundly thankful that they DO protect freelancers against fraudulent employers.

P.S. Tim, please stop emailing me and asking me if I want to continue work on the site - it's quite obvious I am not going to do that considering your actions, and now this.

USE COMMON SENSE.

AUTHOR: camarosource - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 13, 2012

You are accusing ME of being him. I assume Paul took a plane all the way to the USA to post this and then a plane back right?

Look at where this paul is! It's not SWEDEN IS IT. So don't go accusing *ME* of being him!!

I would like to know how you claim that he is such a scam artist yet seems you are in the minority 1 out of 440+ people compliment him on his work, skills and give him 5/5 stars..

So who's not making any sense?

Hes working on my project http://www.guru.com/emp/ViewQuotes.aspx?ProjectId=877045&prjId=41540

"cage8" has 440 reviews all indicating the same 5 out of 5.. So out of 440 people who praise him, you (1) claim he's a SCAM????? and a FRAUD?????

Explain this.. Please.. we need some COMMON SENSE HERE..

Something seems missing for this persons story. Even guru said he was not to blame.

The person above is Paul Brotherton

AUTHOR: Tim - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Its funny that someone takes all this time to describe in details how good is Paul Brotherton.

Nice try Paul, but obviously you are a scam artist with very limited technical skills.. If anyone want to see emails from Paul you are more than welcome to see it..

His ridiculous excuses are, he has 4 kids and don't have the time, he has to cook and will continue the work next day, his family is over to visit him and he can't work for a week .

What kind a freelancer comes up with those lame excuses other than Paul Brotherton ?

Say away from Guru.com, and if you decide to use it sat away from Paul Brotheron a one man shop who has to please his wife, take care his house, the rest of relatives, and if he has time will work on your project and give you some BS templates that he modifies!!

Guru and Paul both SCAMS!! STAY AWAY!!!

NOT TRUE AT ALL (in my experience)

AUTHOR: camarosource - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 12, 2012

I have to say, I feel like I am in the TWILIGHT ZONE right now. My experience with Paul has been the COMPLETE OPPOSITE.

I've have a number of freelancers in the past 5 years and Paul is by far the most HONEST, RELIABLE, SKILLED, PATIENT, AND OVERALL THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!

I have a fairly large project ($2500) and while it was estimated a 3 weeks to complete the project, there was NO WAY this could be done in 3 weeks and so I fully understand that it's taken longer. EVERY single day I receive contact emails with updates including LIVE links to the progress of the build. I can send him a large list of either edit/bug fixes, and in an hour or less have a reply of them being fixed.

This seems like it HAS to be nothing more than a misunderstanding on the clients part and just needed more patience.

Paul had family come over and he was only on hiatus from the job for 5 days and I had NO ISSUES whatsoever with this. He came back immediately and started work again. Looking at my message records his Sister came over on October12th to the 17th.

Looking at his reviews, has has nearly 430 reviews and EVERY SINGLE ONE is 5 out of 5 stars and they ALL indicate the same thing. Being FAST, Communications TOP NOTCH, SKILLED, and COURTEOUS.

This to me, CLEARLY INDICATES Paul is NOT A FRAUD and there was likely nothing more than a MISUNDERSTANDING on the clients part who needed to be more PATIENT. I have ZERO negativety towards Paul and I KNOW I will be a LONG TIME client. I am SO PROUD to have him working on my project that I got quite upset to see this message and would NEVER want to see something like this tarnish his reputation. CLEARLY he goes ABOVE AND BEYOND the average person for his clients and I feel I have an olbligation to state my STRONG opinon to back him up.

Please look at his REVIEWS.. the 400! 5/5 reviews before concluded he is ANYTHING BUT a truely AMAZING FREELANCER.

Paul (btw: my name is ALSO Paul. He is building me a car information database if anyone want to accuse ME of being him)
