January 2006 we bought a 2005 CTS from Guy Schmidt Cadillac.  This was a dealer demo with 7200 miles. Had full warranty. Had purchased another Cadillac previously from them and had always had the car serviced there without problem.  Had also used their service department for the CTS as well.  The car always immaculately maintained.

In August 2009 we decided to look into trading in this car for a smaller car for our daughter away at college. Took the car to Carmax in Burbank for possible trade in value/purchase another vehicle.  Carmax did inspection/valuation.  The Carmax vehicle history report was run.  We were shocked when we were told the car was basically valued as salvage price.  The report showed the car had been involved in a wreck while in dealership ownership.  The car had sustained frame damage/apron had been repaired.  Left and Right fenders as well as the hood had been repainted.  The Carmax salesperson lifted the hood and showed us where the frame repairs had been done and rewelded. He also pointed out the overspray from the repair paint job.  We have all the papers, reports, etc....

None of this was disclosed to us when we were looking to buy the car.  We would have never bought this car if we had known. The sales papers were drawn up and the car was documented as "new" w/full warranty.  It never occurred to us that we needed to run a vehicle report as this car was never out of the ownership of the dealer.

By the time we found all this out, Guy Schmidt Cadillac had closed business and there was no recourse to address this issue/get our money. So we are basically left with a car we would not have ever considered buying.  We will not sell this to anyone due to the compromised vehicle integrity/safety factor.  We do not let our children drive the car nor ride in the car due to not knowing how it would hold up in an accident.

We trusted this dealership based on our previous experience with them.  They had been in the business in Glendale, CA for 30 years.  They knowingly sold us a damaged piece of goods for the sake of making a buck.  Guy Schmidt, Maurice Vaughn, Ali Shirali and the others involved  should all be ashamed.  This dealership abused and betrayed our trust.  Their need to make a buck put us and our family in a car that is a safety risk.......Maybe it is a good thing they went out of  business, it may have saved someone's life.
