About 8 months ago I filled out an insert I found in a womens magazine stating that I would recieve a free pair of silkies stockings; so, curious I sent it in.

Then I started recieving bills for stockings that I did not order or want and was convieniently provided with an account that I was not aware of and did not authorize.

I have three pairs of unopened silkies that I never asked for and do not intend to use sitting on my desk in front of me now. I'm wondering what to do with them...if I were to pay the shipping and send them back will they bill me anyway or use the same stocking scam on some other unsuspecting consumer or do they have hoards of them in some hidden wharehouse somewhere?

At first I honestly did not take the HCI Direct/Silkies scam very serious (they are joking right?). Most recently I have recieved a final notice from them with some very threatening verbage about putting me in an unpleasant position with a National Collection Agency and jeopardizing my credit rating. With something I never ordered in the first place. Is'nt this some kind of mail fraud or something?

Have we strayed so far from good buisness practices that we allow these greedy rip off artists to set new lower standards for the future by letting them conduct this kind of buisness in our fair Country? I will no longer remain silent when I see companies or individuals taking unfair advantage of and robbing others! Sometime I'll tell you about the Baja Mexico car rental scam...that was pulled on my Visa card that was a $400+ doozy!
Integrity...it's what works!

Hosiery service

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 31, 2004

I was unable to locate an account for you with the information provided so I am unable to repond specifically to your complaint.

The introductory offer that I believe you responded to called for a free pair of pantyhose later followed by a 3-pair shipment unless the customer instructs otherwise. Information that was included with the free pair of hose also mentioned that another shipment would be sent within 4 to 5 weeks.

Silkies has been providing millions of satisfied customers quality hosiery products for over 25 years with our Made-To-Order hose service. The offer you refered to was to introduce you to this service.

Please contact us via ripoffreport.com [DELETED]and we will be happy to respond to your specific complaint.

Silkie's so called "Customer Service"

AUTHOR: Brandy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 23, 2004

I had the same thing happen to me. I replied to a mailing... and when I did it, I actually thought to myself, "why the heck am I doing this?" And sure enough, I too received panty hose that are sitting in my dresser that I do not want or did not order.

So here's what I did:

Dear Silkies Customer Service,

I am not a customer, so why I need to write this "customer service" is beyond me.

I received a few months ago a mail peice asking for the size and color of a "free" pair of silkies. Now I and everyone knows that nothing's free in the world today! BUT!!

How can you call yourself a reputable company if the only way you can do business with "customers" is to force mailings to them, then bill them.

FIRST OF ALL! I DO NOT WANT FUTURE SHIPMENTS! TAKE ME OFF YOUR MAILING LIST!

Secondly, I will NOT pay to return the silkies your company is billing me for $13.93. This is also costing me a stamp because your company can not "AFFORD" an actual 1-800 number so "customers" that didn't ask for the INCONVENIENCE could call up and ask for a pre-paid postage label.

And thridly, I will not pay any late fees! BECAUSE I'M NOT YOUR CUSTOMER!

ACCT # -------

Sincerely,
Brandy

Yes, it felt good to send it off, but I'm sure I wasted a stamp. But if I receive any future mailings I'll disregard them. How's a company like that going to hit my credit score? HAHAHA! It ain't gonna happen!

I have told all my girlfriends about this and they refuse to buy Silkies now. So maybe Silkie's can step it up and stop this scam, the scammers are making them look bad!

I have worked at a scandalous workplace, I quit it because I have better work ethics than that. As for any employee that may have anything to do with this scam..... you need to get a life! LOSER!

THE MORAL OF THE STORY, NOTHING'S FREE!
THROW AWAY ALL JUNK MAIL, RESIST THE TEMPTATION ! LOL
