I needed a procedure. I had to change doctors as my doctor was not a provider on their list.
Health Option One was contacted by the doctors office on their providor lise for pre approval of the procedure, a facet injection of the vertebra. It was approved by their representative. The procedure was done. Cost was about $3,000.
The claim was submitted by the doctors office with the appropriate CPT codes for billing. The claim was denied. Reason: Radiology proceudre only. This was appealed and then denied again.
How can a company approve a procedure and then deny the claim? I am stuck with the bill.
Also, it is difficult to get through to anyone to talk to about an issue. In addition, I was told they would cover ER visits. They did not. Claims for two ER visits have been faxed twice with the confirmation that fax was sent twice. The third time, the hospital billing representative sent the fax. They have consistently denied any claim as not covered.
Beware. Do not purchase this insurance. They are a total rip off. I am reporting them to my state's insurance commission. I don't know what else to do.
Trying to get assistance through the hospital. For those of you who don't know, hospitals receive funding for those patients who are unable to pay. There is usually a lot of paper work to fill out and documents (tax returns, proof of income, etc) but it is worth it if you can get some help. Talk to your health care facility's business manager to find out if there are programs available for self pay patients.

Corporate Corruption and Lies

It's because you can't remove these truthful disclosures made in the public interest on Ripoff Report from the Internet, although we know the insurance and medical sectors have played every trick in the book to try (!!) - that now you're trying these pathetic denials, lies about remedy and recourse for consumers when there is none, and jeering attacks and character assassination on anyone who rightly criticises your precious company or the wider health and medical indemnity insurance sectors. People need to understand that legislation like medical tort reforms is one factor in the wider context of abuses leading to consumers being ripped off so openly by insurance companies.
Health Option One should be spending the money they've siphoned from trusting consumers on providing quality healthcare, which they've lead consumers to believe they will get, not spending the money instead on risk management ploys, which means Stu's salary, to cover up the big con later. You are a big part of the ripoff, Stu. Whatever corporate, pseudo-legal crap you next come back with, we've already dismissed it.

It's not libel if it's true

And something is not' libel' if it's true, Stu! We're fighting to preserve our democracy, one based on the supremacy of human rights, including consumer rights and free speech.
You are a paid 'risk manager' , a mercenary, a hired gun for the insurance and health industries so no-one takes your 'risk managing' attempts to degrade our truthful disclosures seriously! Consumers and patients don't have any vested interests like you do!! We tell the truth and can thank Ripoff Report for allowing us to speak out for the public good. Oh, that's right, Stu, the health and medical indemnity insurance companies, the medical sector and government medical malpractice legislation have secretly done away with the 'public good' and replaced it with corporate greed and deception, such as yours, haven't they??

Patients Rights Have Been Undermined By Tort Reform
AUTHOR: Anonymous - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, December 29, 2011
The world knows this must be true because the point of medical malpractice tort reform is to kill patients' rights and ensure they get no compensation. 'Medico-legal' means collusion and sly easy-money kickbacks paid by medical insurers to the sly lawyers of the patient to make sure the patient doesn't win their case; or lawyers are paid to kill and reject claims; and of course, 'professional medical indemnity insurance' for doctors means negligent doctors, as well as the growing numbers of doctors who deliberately injure, maim and kill get 'defended' with buckets of money from a never-ending pot of doctors' subscriptions fees. AND 'defended' with a LOT of medical defense fraud, like falsified records, test results and fake xrays that judges, lawyers, government and police pretend they don't know about.
Health Option One IS a rip off... ...And so is medical tort reforms...and so are fake patient advocacy groups, medical boards etc governed by laws of tort reform, the whole medical industry, lawyers taking kickbacks from medical indemnity insurance companies...and all the insurers' 'inside people' in radiology and pathology labs who switch real test results for an immense amount of medical defense fraud and plant this false evidence on patients. It's all connected in such a sick way.
