I was sent an email thanksgiving morning from the hhgregg website stating they had a sale on a toshiba television for 169.00. When I tried immediately to purchase it, there was an "error" when you tried to purchase it in the shopping cart. I called mutliple people from different locations try to purchase it for me, with the same error.
The entire time this was happening it said the item was in stock! The sale ended at 9 am, and I did not get a chance to purchase the television for the price the website displayed.
At this point I started shopping laptop computers on their site, and they had an HP laptop for a very low price, so I added it to cart and purchased it. I recieved a confirmation for the item being purchased, and my debit card was charged. Approximately 12 hours later, I recieved an email stating my order was cancelled due to an error.
The email stated they would refund my card within 72 hours, and I would be mailed a $20 gift card. I emailed their customer service department to complain about not getting the TV for the price their site stated I could purchase it for, then they have a great deal on a laptop, charge my card and refuse to sell it to me for the advertised price!
I emailed them 3 seperate times requesting management call me to discuss the matter, with no response. Sat on hold over three seperate days to see why I had not been refunded and no one ever answered their phones. Finally, 6 days after this happened, I sat on hold for over half an hour and finally spoke to someone.
They are supposedly refunding my card now (6 days later!) and when I told the associate what had happened, he simply did not seem to care. I asked if I could at the very least get the TV on a raincheck price, and he stated that they are not responsible for their mistakes! He did not get anyone in management to talk to me, even after I said they would lose me as a customer. His response was "sorry".
It seems that they can hook you in with these great deals, have convenient "mistakes" on their site, and not honor anything they post on the website. I have never seen such horrible customer service in my life. They did nothing to keep me as a customer, and refuse to honor their mistakes. I missed other great sales due to their mistakes
