HireBug is the new employment company of Joe Gomez (Joseph Gomez) and Alec Defrawy (Alec Defrawi), two men based in Orlando, Florida, who ran the emodel.com employment scam (also known as Studio 58 Models, Options Talent, Trans Continental Talent, and Wilhelmina Scouting Network).
The state business registration record listed Joe Gomez. Defrawi is hiding behind Gomez. You need to know what's in their bag of tricks. They have worked together for so long they can now operate the same way. Gomez is one
of Defrawy's disciples.
TCT was one of the worst job scams America has ever seen which was founded by Defrawy. The complaints are everywhere including on this website. Joe Gomez (Joseph Gomez) is even mentioned on this website in the context of his work at that scam.
Joe Gomez also used to be the Customer Service contact at the BBB of Orlando in conjunction with the emodel scam. You can call the BBB Orlando office to confirm his involvement with emodel.
Alec Defrawy, who has changed his name many times, but recently to Alec Defrawi (ending in 'i' instead of 'y,') went to prison for his involvement in a multi-million-dollar job scam. Four years in the slammer.
Defrawy, the fat Egyptian, is a serial job scam artist, a chronic repeat offender, who has been scamming in job scams since about 1990, when he was not in prison, but there is always one feature of his job scams which are his trademark: free labor.
Defrawy tricks people into thinking they will end up earning a lot of money if only they first work for free. Carrot and stick. Carrot: high salary. Stick: free labor. The reality is he fires them before they get to the salary.
Defrawy was responsible for the model scout scam at emodel where scouts were misled to believe they would earn a high salary of $40,000 - $75,000 (carrot) but first they had to work on commission seven days a week (stick). Most were not paid; they were fired.
The initial fraud where the job scam all started was at Monster.com. There were thousands of job ads for a "Dream Job." Monster eventually banned the bogus job ads as did HotJobs.com.
A forum post on a Monster board previously said before it was removed:

First off... if they are expanding and creating new offices... why is their original office the "Thomas Sumter Academy", a school?? So first off, they don't appear to even have one actual office!
Secondly... a simple search of the word "hirebug" keeps showing this line:
"business for under $500 with unlimited lifetime residuals. http://www.hirebug.com"
Thirdly... read the Management page:
"What does it cost to become a Division Owner?
The cost of becoming a Division Owner is generally $495 (it may be lower in some states)."
... and note that if you are simply an "Account Executive"...you do not earn anything on your first 50 sales ("*Sue would not earn commission as she left the company before becoming vested (Account Executives are vested at 50 active accounts"). DOH!! If I want to work for free... I can certainly find better opportunities.
hmmm... can anyone spell S C A M ... or pyramid scheme???
