Please do not accept offers from HSBC or Orchard Bank! Their policies are inconsistent. Their customer service stinks and they employees are rude and uneducated. I have also had the displeasure of speaking with a Supervisor at that company and her attitude was even worse than the reps. This company expects for you to make a payment on time but once you pay, it takes up to 14 days for the payment to post to your account!!! They offer several "convienent" ways to make your payments but charge $15 for the most convienent.

Then when you ask then why does it take up to 14 days for the payment to post, they cant explain it!! Their comments are "we have to make sure the payment doesnt return". You idiots!! If the money is gone from our Bank then apparently its not going to return! No your company is playing around with the money or playing some scheme thats making your company money! Its ok! You can be honest! I have several friends who use this card as well and we cant all be wrong!!!

During the day when you call the company you are lucky to get someone who has a command of the English language. If you call after hours you'll get India's Finest!!! This company is a Ripoff!!! I wish someone could read my mind right now and put this company out of business...For Good!!

Ok Sure!

AUTHOR: Yasmeen - (United States of America)

My complaint is valid. I dont need to make up things. No I dont have a history of NSF with my bank nor did i suddenly "just realize" that I made a mistake. I wont even go further with this. So why dont you patrol the other rip off complaints? Get off Robert's jock, get a job or continue to collect your county check or disability check, whichever is your case...!

You know what they say about opinions...

"my situation has been suddenly rectified"

By rectified I suppose that you are stating that you now realize that the payments were posted on the payment date and that you were confused by the difference between the posted date and the available date. As previously stated by Robert, keep your balance well below your credit limit and the credit available date will not be a factor.

"If the money is gone from our Bank then apparently its not going to return!"

Maybe you have a NSF history with this bank?

"I expect any company who begs me to bank with them..."

Were they on one or two knees when they begged?

None of your complaints were justified.

Wow..! Really?

AUTHOR: Yasmeen - (United States of America)

First of all...I didnt respond to your .2 cents because your comments didnt warrant a response. I dont need to take your advice. I came here to lodge a complaint and I did just that. I dont max out my card, I am NOT late making payments and trying to get out of late charges, and I am not here frivously making complaints that I cant prove. I know alot of people who are unsatisfied with these credit card companies, but never do anything!! Just...complain! But obviously my complaint was valid which is why my situation has been suddenly rectified and I've been asked to not say anything else regarding HSBC on ripoff!!! LOL!!

So employee or painter or toilet cleaner whatever your title is for the day...I'd say Ive accomplished what I came here to do, but I still stand firm on my opinion on HSBC. It doesnt need to be repeated.

P.S. If you're ever in the area for the day, or between jobs...which will probably be real soon, I need to have my carpets cleaned.

Painting

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

Sorry but I am a bit too busy to do any painting right now..but perhaps in the summer when I take my Cross Country Road trip looking for more companies to "work" for I may have some time.

Anyways back to the OP..as you probably could tell by the comments it is Standard around this site that when someone doesn't like what is said they accuse the person of being an employee.  So if you haven't figured it out by now I am not now or have ever been an employee of HSBC or any financial institution for that matter.  Also, my comments would have been pretty much the same thing regardless of what Credit Card company you were talking about.

But I did notice that you didn't really dispute anything I said.  Instead bringing up "new" issues that you didn't mention in your original post which usually screams...."I am just trying to make up anything I can to get out of this situation".

So I bet that you are maxing out your credit card and trying to make a payment at the last minute.  You can take my advise or not, I really don't care...I get paid either way :).

Again if you want to avoid this fee then make your payment sooner.  You can do on-line payments through their system up until 8PM EST on the due date and they don't charge a fee for this.  You can even schedule a payment for up to a year in advance or set up recurring payments for free.  I was incorrect on one thing there appears to be no option on-line to make an expedited payment(I think I was thinking of another bank). You also can mail your payment about 7 days in advance which is free.  Or use your own banks on-line bill payment service(which Orchard bank does not charge for but your bank may).  There is a Check-By-Phone option and as far as I can tell the ONLY method that does charge a fee.

As for the hold on the funds.  It is considered bad to max your card out(even if you pay it off every month).  Ideally you should use no more than about 30% but really never going above 50%.  If you did this then it wouldn't matter how long they held your payment because you would still have available credit.

Pay On-Line

AUTHOR: NoMore - (United States of America)

I pay my HSBC bill on-line every month from their website (www.householdbank.com) and have them debit the payment from my checking account.  The payment always posts the day I make it.

I do not work for HSBC or any other bank.

Simple solution. Mail a check 5 days before the due date. Problem solved.

AUTHOR: Southern Chemical and Equipment LLC - (USA)

The OP is dead wrong here.

I am an HSBC customer, and have been (this time) since 5/2007 with an Orchard Bank Mastercard.

I have never paid any fee as a requirement to pay my monthly bill, and I have never paid a late fee or other fee outside what was fully disclosed when I got my card.

On one occasion, I was charged a late payment fee because they recieved my payment 1 day past the payment due date. I made 1 simple 3 minute phone call, and the very first rep I spoke with reversed it.

No problem.

So, with this personal experience with HSBC / Orchard Bank for nearly 5 years, I can tell you that the OP is full of crap.

The OP is most likely having problems and paying fees because of late payments, and/or trying to make a payment by phone at the last minute and forcing the post to avoid a late payment. They DO charge for this, and those charges are fully disclosed in the cardholder agreement.

And, NO, I do not work for HSBC, or any bank, and never have worked for any bank.

My advice? Write out a check and mail it at least 5 business days prior to the due date.

Or, use the online bill payment that your bank offers (usually FREE) and do the same thing, but allow up to 7 business days.

Problem solved.

Just stop the stupidity.

Employee

AUTHOR: Yasmeen - (United States of America)

First of all I have spoken to several different reps such as yourself, and each time have been given conflicting information regarding ways to make payments, posting times, late fee amounts that were supposed to have been waived because of a company error but of course never happened...!

The list is endless! I can go on forever about the many reasons why this is NOT a good company and employees like you who are just grateful to have a job will always refute the obvious...because you need your job. I understand. Your bias comments are just that. Why isnt there anyone who has credit with Orchard Bank on here defending the company telling us how great they are!!..

I dont expect to get anything for free, but I expect any company who begs me to bank with them, to treat me fairly and not talk to me as if I have a tail! I know this is a CREDIT company and the payments are expected to be paid on time. My payments are on time. My issue with them is when they make a mistake, they say they'll fix it and end up making things worse!! and still want to charge you a fee!!! Yep this company should be outsourced!!! I'd actually sign my name in agreement on that!

Wrong

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

-
The only fee they charge in making a payment is if you attempt to make a payment on the due date but AFTER the cut-off time(which I believe is somewhere between 5-8PM EST).   The fee is a "rush" fee to make sure it gets credited that day so you can avoid things such as the late fee(which is around $40) and additional interest.  If you want to avoid this fee then do what is truly the most convenient.  Go on-line BEFORE the cut-off time and pay your bill without any fees.

This company expects for you to make a payment on time but once you pay, it takes up to 14 days for the payment to post to your account!!!
-
This comment cracks me up every time I hear it.  How dare a credit card company actually expect you to make your payment on time.  The ONLY reason you are making a payment is because you are paying back money you have already borrowed.  This is NOT your money, the only thing that they are doing is restricting your account for a period of time before they are willing to allow you to borrow their money again.  As long as they credit the payment the day you make it there is no RipOff.
