On 5/16/2012 at 3:54:07PM I called to cancel my merchant service with Harbortouch, what was formerly known as United Bank Card.  On 5/25/2012 I received a letter that I had to fax back with my signature, declaring my desire to cancel my service as discussed on the phone.  They have the phone call information ON the letter I received, stating 5/16/2012.
Yet on 5/25/2012, they continued to charge me 82.75 on 5/25/2012.  When I phoned, I was told "this is 2012 annual fee".  Pardon me, but annual means a year...if I cancelled in May, not even a half of a year using their service in 2012...why am I being charged for an entire year?
By rights, I should only owe them a little under $35.00...meaning $47.74 SHOULD be due BACK to me!

I'm SO thankful to get away from this company, charging for their service annually.  I was told on the phone "this is 2012 annual fee, and is a legitimate fee because you processed credit cards this year".  Great!  Super!  But I should NOT be required to pay the rest of the year out!

Not to mention, they've been billing me every month for processing online payments....which is BOGUS because I process all payments manually by hand, on the terminal I used to have prior to mailing it back to them, and yes, at MY cost there also!

They by rights owe me a WHOLE lot more than $47.74! 

OH yeah, they failed to let me know about this upcoming annual fee when I spoke with them to cancel my service.  They just informed me that since I had been with them over 2 years, there'd be no early termination fee.

Do NOT do business with this company, they will screw you over also.  Go with the Square!

Dear HTSUPPORT -

I am a former customer of Harbortouch as well and had a difficult time working with your customer service department.   And we did contact our sales agent who was understandably unable to help.

Seems like most of the problems are with a misunderstanding between you and your customers.   If Habortouch clearly stated the fees involved and owned the fact that you will withdrawal money from your customers bank accounts only to make it difficult (if not impossible to get a solution) then that would be a step in the right-direction.  

But regardless how long you've been in business, regardless of how many merchant accounts you have, and regardless how many awards and accolades you've received - there remains a fundamental flaw in the way you do business even if that flaw is simply not fully disclosing how much you intend to charge your customers for your service.
