Today, the typical chiropractic office offers services such as electrical stimulation of muscles, ultrasound, massage, roller tables, and exercise. This was indeed high tech in 1980. Health care is evolving at break neck speed and will continue to do so. These services are 'old school' and there are much better services to offer patients today so they get better faster. Some of these services include PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular re-education) stretching, neuro-facilitative stretching, active release deep tissue work, cold laser therapy, non-surgical spinal decompression, superior, state of the art nutritional supplements unavailable at drug stores, functional wellness to potentially reverse conditions such as diabetes and specific, chiropractic adjustments. Additionally, there is a multitude of old school practice management consultants that prey upon on the unsuspecting chiropractor and soon to graduate student, teaching outdated, old school management philosophies, all designed to yield a personality dependent practice utilizing high stress communications with patients.
