Corporate Advocacy Program™
Hebble & Associates puts ads onto job boards on the web that claim they have immediate need of an Adminstrative Assistant/Legal Secretary. If you answer their ad, they are nice and professional on the interviews, in order to get you in the door. Once there, the niceness dries right up. They want you to work non-stop. They do not let the employees leave the building and go out to have lunch, they make you eat at your desk and keep on working. This is a violation of Federal Law, but this is what these "lawyers" are doing in their law firm. Also they have a strange hired gun named Trish O'Donoghue who they deliberately use in order to make the new employees look like they are incompetent.
Trish "trains" people, ostensibly, but Robert Hebble, the owner of this firm, usually pulls the new people aside and tells them he suspects Trish "trains them wrong" because she is "so afraid of losing her position here." Other employees will confirm this and say Trish is in love with Robert Hebble and that's why she's so desperate to stay. The prevailing wisdom around the firm is poor Trish. It's all preposterous on so many different levels you can not even imagine it, but Trish's "love" for Hebble is the reason why she apparently trains people incorrectly. And then, of course, at the end of the three month "trial period" for new employees, guess what happens? The new employee is declared "incompetent," then fired. And fired without severance pay of any sort. It's a total set up by this stupid firm. Robert Hebble and his Associates don't have to shell out any money for benefits.
Since the new employee did not last for three months she did not get medical coverage or any other benefits coverage. And unless you were in your previous job for a certain amount of time you can not get unemployment either. Hebble & Associates just sticks a new ad up on another job message board and reels in another sucker for their con game of revolving door assistants. Tough on the assistant if she has to go out and start making deductions from her life's savings in order to survive after being unceremoniously tossed out of Hebble & Associates.
Even Unemployment knows about Hebble & Associates. They told me "Oh yes, that place is always firing people, so something's obviously very wrong there." Why they don't investigate them if they know there's something that wrong there I do not know. This is a scam. Every single lawyer over there ought to be disbarred for what goes on in that firm. If they want to not pay people benefits they should just illegally smuggle some Mexicans in over the border and be done with it, and leave the American workers ALONE!

It doesn't make sense for them to do that

I'm not denying that what you are stating isn't true, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for them to fire their assistants every three months just to avoid paying benefits. Most lawyers know full well that an unexperienced employee costs the firm money. Until you are experienced enough to know how to do the job correctly, some lawyer is likely spending his valuable time correcting your work and/or showing you the correct way to do it.
Presumably, by the time your benfits would kick in, you would know how to do the job well enough that it's far more cost effective to keep you on board than to have to go through the process of finding and training someone new.
So like I said, I don't know whether your perceptions are accurate or not. If you are correct, then this firm is just biting itself in the ass, and probably causing its own attorneys alot of grief.
