I had two accounts with Helium although only allowed one. The first account was closed because I was accused of plagarism.
True I had copied other people's work as it was a medical article. However, I duly credited any copied material as used it to support the article and make it more professional. My explaination didn't wash with Helium. The problem is they check articles through copyscape and those with duplicate content are flagged. All well and good, except it will not distingushed properly credited content from plagarism.
They only had to check the article rather than just accept copyscape rejection. Because this had happened twice, my account was closed with $80.00 owning and not paid. Neither was I allowed any time to retrieve my articles which were about one hundred.
A year or two later I opened another account. I entered a competition called Winner Takes All. It should have been renamed Helium Takes All.
When the competition was finished I checked the results on the results page and saw I came first place and I will duly receive $20.00. I waited and waited but there was no payment forthcoming. I contacted Helium and I was advised I came joint first place. In this instance the staff decide who wins, and I was deemed to be the loser.
I complained because I was I had won and it said so the results page. I clearly had won and for all to see. They said in an unflatering reply I was not informed such by email and that is that.
I complained on the forum. Not much of a discussion board as within two hours my post was removed and I was banned from the forums for life by a so called Rev Rex Trulove which I believe isn't real and a Helium clone. I also note unsurprisingly he wins many of the competitions.
I knew something was wrong and decided to write to the writer they said did win and asked him if he had been paid? No after several weeks he hadn't been paid, and he had no idea he had won the contest either. He did eventually get paid but only after being alerted by my email and making a complaint.
The sad part is I could go on, and on, reporting on Helium's bed practices and scams, there are many, but I would rather stop here, and let people decide for themselves.
