Heritage Lottery Company - The National Lottery LOTTERY WINNER, DEPOSIT COMPANY CHECK AND SEND $4,975 FOR INSURANCE TO THEM Amherst New York

My father received a letter and check in the US mail from The Heritage Lottery Company affiliated with the National Lottery. He called the bank (South West Bank of Texas -Houston, TX 77227) to see if the account even existed. The bank changed its name to Amegy Bank on March 7th. The bank told him they have been getting a large amount of calls like his lately. The account does exist, but the name on the check is Bill Hill Criminal Districk Attorney Check Division. The bank told him that is not the name on the account.

The letter told him he was "randomly" selected through a computer ballot system. The check amount is an advance for processing and insurance fees which will be deducted from the total winnings amount. After they receive the "processing fees" money the remaining winnings amount will be paid.

The letter also told him to contact MARTIN SIMMONS at 514-570-4849 for further clarification and instructions. My father did call and a man answered who had no idea what was going on. After my father asked the man numerous questions like: Is this a business? Where is this business located? What is the purpose of this letter? etc, the man told him to deposit the check, wait for it to clear and then mail them a check for $4,975. My father definitely knew this was a scam and hung up on the guy.

Don't fall for this. It is unfortunate that scams like this exist and people waste their time doing this crap.
