My wife and I reserved then rented a car from Hertz in Mesa AZ. I negotiated the car price in advance and recieved a confirmation number and email with the price. We rented the car at the time of rental an additional $195.93 was placed on the rental as a Damage Waver , I said my insurance company already covers rental cars so I do not want this however I will purchase the concession fee recovery of $28.74. The gentleman behind the counter replied that the $195.93 would remain on my card until I brought the car back as a deposit then if there were no concerns refunded to my car. When we returned the car it was before there operating hours so we drop the keys in the overnight box and got on our plane.As soon as I got home I called for a recept , It took 11 days email a recept to me and when I recieved it there was the additonal charge of $195.93 + a Tax of $58.97 on top of Airport tax vehicle lease tax road tax. The number given to me to call for billing inquires 800-654-4173 had a recording stating the number could not be connected from my area (Nebraska) so I called there reservation number and pressed all the appropriate numbers and sat on hold for 11 minutes only to be told by the costumer service rep that they indeed were keeping the additional $195.93 & $58.97 because I had signed the rental agreement despite what there agent had said at the time of rental. I informed her I was a member of AOPA and did not appriecaiate being cheated and would be reporting the event . I WILL WALK BEFORE I EVER RENT FROM HERTZ AGAIN my advice is the same to anyone else thinking of renting from them
