This place is hell on earth!  Not because of the facilities but because of some of the people.  Many present and past members of the board of directors are liars and lawbreakers.  There is currently (June 2010) a lawsuit against the board for a few of the many laws that they have broken in their attacks against the homeowners.  They refused to do an audit as required by law.  They refuse to show reocords, as required by law.  They held illegal elections, in violation of the law.  They passed rules in violation of the law.  They arbitrarily impose fines, use violence, libel, and slander in order to intimidate anyone who opposes their evilness.  This is not a place where you would want to buy a home, much less even visit there.  Beware!  You have been warned.

Highland Palms Senior Estate

AUTHOR: Carol - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 13, 2023

Hello, I came across this article about this Senior Community somewhere in Riverside, CA and I recall going to this place and was interested in purchasing a property.  To cut the story short, I ended up purchasing a property and now waiting for the Escrow to close.  This is not my 1st time buying a property so I am aware of how the HoA works but to my surprised, this community, requires all new homeowners to attend an Orientation Meeting for the HoA.  If you don't attend, you can't close your Escrow - so it is a "Mandatory" meeting. Well, you'd be surprised because the meeting is mostly discussing things that I think shouldn't be discussed during an HoA meeting.  I was very disappointed and towards the middle of the meeting, I felt regretting why I bought a property in this community.  I think I made the purchase because I was desperate to find a house instead of renting that costs me almost $3K monthly for a 1 bedroom apartment in San Diego.  I hope I can last at least a year in this community and I plan on just having this place rented if I decide to leave after a year.  The ex-President of the Board kept giving his personal opinion about almost everything in the community and the current Board of Directors - which I honestly think is not appropriate.  I wonder and asked myself if I would become like this when I reached that age where I felt people are just done with all the BS that happened in their entire life that's why all the negativity is just flowing constantly.  An HoA meeting that lasted 2 hours, but we haven't even discussed about the By Laws ... lol, and was told it would take another 30 mins (which I doubt) because the last 2 hours was spent discussing on items regarding the community newsletter which is about 10 pages or less.  So, imagine how long it will take to discuss the ByLaws which is about 100+pages???? That's probably going to be a whole day discussion hahaha ....   Is it too late to back-out from my purchase?  I think it's too late since I've spent all the time and money purchasing the manufactured home and honestly, I regret the purchase 1000% but all I can do for now is wait for at least a year and then move out of this place.  I just hope that these people who are sitting in the Board and those who are ex-Board members are just human enough to be mature individuals and not act like kids.  Wish me all the best in this new community!!!

Highland Palms is a Wonderful Place to Live

AUTHOR: Bob - ()

POSTED: Friday, February 20, 2015

After living here for 16 months, I have met many of my fellow residents, and everybody I have met is very happy living at Highland Palms.

I think the complaint is more of a reflection on the character of the complainer than on the community and the HOA board.

Highland Palms is not a mobile home park. It is a mobile home neighborhood with real streets, real curbs, real house lots (which we own and not rent), on-street parking, and lots of activities and free unlimited golf.

The Homeowners Association is well managed, and is concerned with meeting the needs of the residents and of keeping the community safe, clean and a pleasant place to live. We get incredible amenities for an HOA fee of only $90 per month. Also, since we own our own lots, we don't have to pay the high escalting space rental that people in mobile home parks are stuck with.

Of course there are people who are never happy, regardless of their situation. Fortunately I have not met any of them here. The one who was unhappy obviously moved out, and my guess is that he is unhappy where he is now, too. Such is the lot of unhappy persons.

I give Highland Palms 1 "10" rating. I couldn't be happier here.

One of a majority of happy residents of Highland Palms Estates

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, August 26, 2012

I find it very sad that the unhappy resident of Highland Palms that wrote such an angry review is still living here.   I would hope that they are looking for a new home where they might be happier.  I have only been a home owner for about a year and I could not be more pleased with the facilities and the neighbors and friends that I have come to know and enjoy.  I have a feeling that the unhappy soul I'm responding to has not done all of his/her homework before venting their vitriol.  To respond to a few of their unfounded assertions, the volunteer board members do an excellent job, in my opinion, of trying to maintain a beautiful mobile home park in accordance the the governing rules, regulations, and policies.  Regarding the election of the board members, every homeowner was given a ballot and the results of the election was made public in our internal newsletter.  Also, the financial statement and accounting of all funds that the board manages is published monthly and available to anyone, even our uninformed letter writer, in the clubhouse library.  I know all of the board members and there is not an evil person among them.  I believe they are honest and committed people who work hard to see that the estates remain a safe, friendly, and attractive place to call home.  In closing I would suggest that instead of just writing complaint letters, that our unhappy resident consider running for the board themselves to correct all of the evil doing around them, assuming they plan on continuing to live in such an "evil place".

The Truth II

AUTHOR: Louise - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 19, 2010
Dear Sam? or whoever you really are and we all have a pretty good idea who you are.  Why don't you use your real name?  Why do you hide behind a false name?

This is to let everyone know that Highland Palms Senior Estates is a wonderful place to live with a lot of activities for everyone or none if you prefer.  There are a few residents here who are complaining and making this place sound as if it is a horrible place to live.

The Board are all volunteers, past and present.  The people who are complaining about the Board amount to 5% of the people who live here and they all do so anonymously.  It is time for them to step up and identify themselves.  They will say there are afraid of repercussions;  well we are afraid of the repercussions of their lawsuits.

Their lawsuits could pose real hardships on the residents in the park due to the amount of money it costs the Park to respond to their lawsuits.  It has gotten to the point of ridiculous with them.  The Board has broken no laws, the elections are fair, residents are free to look at the books, rules have not been passed in violation of the law.  They do not recklessly impose fines or use violence, libel and slander to intimidate residents of the park.  They Board is not evil.

This is a wonderful park with a dedicated and great Board, past and present, despite what some residents have to say.

Rebuttal to the complainers at Highland Palms Seniors

AUTHOR: Paul - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 19, 2010

These idiots that are still complaining about the Board of Directors supposedly keeping information from them are totally out of line. In saying these directors won't do this or that is utterly BS. These people want things done their way which is totally illegal. They have sued this membership so many times and never winning anyone of them. SOOOO who are the "Liars" These people are only costing this park tons of money.I think it is time to start A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM. We are so sick of the insuations that are false. The big problem is they will not own up to who  they are. We do know who some of them are and we will pursue them. The only reason they are suing so often is because they have found a stupid lawyer that accepts these unfounded suits "PRO TEMP" You would think he could see through them. The reason the board will not give us any information on this pending lawsuit is because our attorney recomended they wait. I, as an owner with "common sense, can respect that, but some people don't.  If you don't like it here please move. You are such a small minority and everyone else is QUITE HAPPY.!!!!

The Truth

AUTHOR: Sam Cooke - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 19, 2010

Mary Lee:  You should be upset, because this original report is the truth.  If you cannot see the truth, then you are blind.  This is meant to be a disturbing report because the lies and lawbreaking of certain members of the board is disturbing to any honest person.  I agree, that this mobile home park would be a nice place to live, if it were not for some of the criminals who live here.  It is an active community, with the criminals being the most active.  The "excellent board" continues to lie and deceive the residents.  They will not even tell the residents what the lawsuit against them is about, that is, the laws that they have broken.  Their favorite sport is to defame the character of the people who object to their lies and violations of the law.  They like to deflect blame away from themselves by blaming others for their own faults.  You need to understand that the truth is not negative.  And yes, we are unhappy (the honest people) because we have seen how the evil ones act.  They even resort to violence and property destruction against the honest people.  Get your head out of the sand.  The only reason you think the park is so great is because the wicked ones have not attacked you yet, perhaps because you are one of them?

Best place to live

AUTHOR: Mary Lee - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 19, 2010
Dear sirs,

I am very upset over reading a report put on your website....Report #611564.  The person that has written this is a very disturbing person. Our mobile home park is one of the best places to live in our area. We have a very active community, with so many things to do here and we all (except for a about a dozen people) look out for each other and have a excellent Board here.  This group of people have written other negatives things in the past on websites.  It is terrible how so few people can cause such an uproar and place negative things on the Internet. They are very unhappy people. If you live in this area, I could only hope that you could come here to see what a lovely place it is to live with all the accommodations and the friendly people....

Thanking you for your time,
