I was looking to buy a puppy and posted on ad on my local kijiji. Within 3 hours of posting I received an e-mail from Hilder Perez claiming she had two young maltese. When I asked how old they were she dodged the question and sent me professional photos of two adorable puppies. I figured hey she's pry a local breeder or knows her way around a camera. When I asked how much she said they were free, that struck me a little odd considering the professional photos but I digress. After asking if I could come see the puppies and pick the one I wanted she replied saying she lived in Yukon and would have to ship the dog to me for 180$ which is a pretty fair price and she said it would take about 7hrs. But if she is in Yukon why was she looking at Ontario's kijiji why not post the ad for the pups locally? Seeing as this was suspicious I asked for her to take a video of the pups so I could see their behaviour she dodged the question and after I pressed she said she did not have a camera, but then where did the photos come from? Oook. [continued below]....
..... So than what about the airlines, as far as I know Yukon doesn't have any real commercial airlines and the website she gave me petrides.com was under construction. At this point I was convinced it was fraudulent but decided to continue pressing her for details as well as do some research to prevent other people from getting scammed. I googled petrides and found nothing and after a few attempts of playing with the address I found petrideshalifax.ca with a phone number. I called them and asked if they were connected to petrides.com. After a 15 minute conversation I found out that petrides.com runs out of manhatten and deals with US pet shipping only and the petrideshalifax covers nova scotia only. The only other airline that he knew of that shipped pets across Canada was through the IPA and to get a pet from the Yukon to Ontario would take 24hrs at least and would have an overnight stay in Edmonton before reaching its final destination. After mentioning that to the seller she went on to say every airline is different, well of course they are but when you live in the middle of nowhere you airlines are pretty limited and the difference between 7hrs and 24hrs is just to big it far to suspicious. To further disprove the legitimacy I decided to google matlese puppy and after 10 minutes of searching I found a picture of the puppies she had sent me on a different website. Fine peeople post on other sites but here's the catcher. The pictures were post dated 19 weeks ago not 11 under a different name in a different province. No I can't be sure whose legitimate or not and who knows maybe their the same person but I trust me gut and the facts don't lie sorry lady but no thank you. So a far warning to you all if you see two adorable maltese puppies for sale one named Jake and one named Morgan be warned.
