I sympathize with everyone who has claimed a rip off report on HomEq or Wakovia, or whatever they want to be called. I am dealing with them in a similar matter.

My husband was recently layed off, and I just started working. I contacted HomEq to inform them of our situation. At first they were polite and offered us a "repayment" plan for what we were in arrears for (less than $2000). we were told to make 3 WEEKLY payments of $310, plus a fouth payment of $425) on week three (Christmas holiday) both of our employer's policy, is that they mail our pay checks to us, which, with the holidays, were delayed.

I contacted Homeq to explain to them that we would make the payment as soon as our checks arrived. I was told very bluntly, and matter-of-factly that "you have defaulted on the repayment schedule and foreclosure proceedings will begin immediately" The part I have trouble swallowing is that, they are willing to foreclose on our home, for (as of date today) $910.28!!

We are first time home buyers, and we have been assured by family, friends, and local attorneys that they would not foreclose on such a small amount. After reading everyones reports, I have to say Im not so sure.

If there is anyone out there with any suggestions on how to appease these people..PLEASE contact me, I am willing to give my email address, I dont want to lose my house, we have only been in it since April, 1, 2005!! If I have to file bankruptsy over less than $1000 I think I will become the most hostile person in America.

We have already recieved one foreclosure "threat" notification, and when I called them, they assured me, that since I had made efforts to pay off the arrears amount, that I was in no danger of foreclosure, but that hasnt seem to stop the threatening phone calls, nor the letters stating that our "refusal to make payments" would be reported on our credit report.

I agree with everyone of you who, have said that they are liars and thieves. I always believe that what goes around comes around (you go Cindy, in NC)!! I try to see the good in everyone and everything, although I am starting to doubt whether there is good in HomEq.

Unless we all stand up together and fight back, they will win!! Fighting a corporation as large as HomEq is liking fighting City Hall, you need an Army behind you...
Be assured that I will never trust a lending company again for a loam of any amount. and once again if there is ANYONE out there who can help or has advice for me please feel free to contact me at anniesmom_2002@yahoo.com

I am in the same situation that you are and I had to file a Chapter 13 to save my home but I also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. The more people who file complaints against HomEq and their immoral practices the better.
Good luck!
