When Home depot offers zero percent interest on appliances over $399 for twelve months they do not tell you that the promotion really ends after six months and they sock you 22 percent interest back to the beginning on any unpaid balance which in my case would be half of the purchase price because i had paid off the first half in the first six months. When i called them they said i needed to call before the six months was up to extend the zero interest promotion that really was twelve months when i bought the refrigerator. Now why would i call to extend a promotion that does not end for six more months to extend it for another six months. They are ripoffs and be careful because they are offering this promotion again this year. Any one who does business with them again should have their head examined. I cancelled my account when they told me there was nothing they could do.

why do you have to look at your statement...

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

Sometimes stores dont take promotion signs down on time and also associates may think promotion of no intrest for 12 months is still going on. So just to make sure, you can look at your statement. Home depot credit services will honor it if associate calls. Also say if you made a purchase yesterday for 299 and today another purchase for 150 if you inform customer service associate to call credit services to combine it to the promotional balance they will do it only if the purchases are made within two days apart max.just an fyi they are not trying to just get the sale by lying to customers about the 12 mo no intrest ibviously they know YOU WILL FIND OUT and come back and complain i honestly think its an associate etror of them not knowing current promotions....Its a pretty good promotion if you make yoyr payments on time and you pay it off on time but this is where they make their money...by people making their payments late and also by missing the deadline

Any way to rip-you-off

AUTHOR: RochesterRalph - (United States of America)

When i bought my appliances from Home Depot the promotion was zero percent interest for 12 months..I should not have to look at my statement to see if those terms change, Since i set up automatic payments through electronic fund transfer for twelve equal payments to be made one week before each months due date the only fault with this offer is Home Depot is a rip-off and lie about promotions to get you to buy from them. I learned my lesson and will buy from retailers that honor their promises and respect the customer.

Questions

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

What do you have in writing that says you have 12 Months instead of 6?

Is there anything listed on your receipt that says you have 12 Months No Interest?  Do you have any Credit Card statements that has the end date?  If so then you have a very valid complaint and need to pursue this with them.

However, there is another thing you did not mention.  Did you make ALL of your payments ON-TIME, that is did they receive them before the due date(or on the due date by before the cut-off time).  Because if you did not this is most likely why the promotion "ended".  Just about every one of these offers not only require you to pay off the balance before the promotional period ends, but if you are late(even by a minute) during this time they end the offer and assess you all of the accrued interest.

consumer home depot credit card

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

The card always offers no intrest for 6mo. on single purchases of 299 or more. at times they offer a promotion of 12 months 18 months and 24 months it depends but one thing you must do when you receive your billing statment make sure it states the correct date on when the promotion ends. if its incorrect you need to go into a hone depot store and inform a customer service associate. the associate will then call credit service to extend it and it will take 1-2 billing statements to show the correction. also you need to make sure to atleast make your minumum payment on time because if your late your promotion will be voided. also if you have a revolving balance (balance that is accumulating intrest due to no promotion) make sure that after you make a payment you call credit services to apply the payment to whatever balance you want it to go to. for exampke promotional balance 300.00 revolving balance 60.00 and you make a payment for 100.00 you then call credit services and say you want to apply 60.00 to pay off revolving balance and the other 40.00 to the promotional balance or however you want to do it. another best practice will be to buy a giftcard for 299.00 and use that to make your purchases on diffrent days and still be able to get the promotion. just be aware that if the promotional balance is not paid in full by due date you will be charge intrest for the ENTIRE amount not the remaining amount
