Home Warranty of America claim that damage to furnace is from neglect and will not cover. When company came out to replace, damage was from air conditioner coil leaking into furnace. They claim they will not cover water damage. It is not water damage but the air conditioner which damaged the furnice. Impossible to know until opened furnace. Lemont Illinois
The furnice suddenly stopped working. We have two seperate companies come out to evaluate, both of whom reported that a new furnace was needed because of "neglect" as they could see some water damage and they would not cover under the home warranty. Finally, we contacted a third to come in and install a new furnace. When taking the old one out, they noted that the reason for the water damage was an air conditioning evaporator coil that had gone bad and was leaking into the furnace causing the problem. No neglect here and the air conditioner had been inspected twice. When I asked the HWA people, they now said they understood, but they did not cover water damage and did not cover secondary damage, so would not replace the furnace. This is a total scam and so not worth the money. Not sure what it would take to get a claim covered.
