HomeServe Homeowner Scam Jefferson City, Missouri

 Recently my 86 year old mother-in-law received a letter from HomeServe to provide "insurance" in the event that a water line broke between the service provider and the house, all for a nominal fee of $60 per year. I considered this very amusing since she lives in a very rural area of Missouri and has her on water well! However, she seemed to think that she needed to send money!! Fortunately we stopped her in time. Also, come to find out, this is not the first time she has received a letter from this scam outfit. Apparently every Gypsy fly-by-night group of deadbeats around think they can take advantage of an elderly woman!!
 My experience with calling the company was EXACTLY like the gentleman from Colorado Springs reported. Once they think you are "on to them" you get dumped like a hot potato. The third time you call your number comes up on their side and they won't even attempt to talk to you.

These guys have been reported to the Missouri State Attorney General's Office but nothing has ever come from it! Maybe citizens as a whole need to track these hummers down and close their shop! It sure seems that this is a national scam if all of the web info is even close to being true.
