Well, where should i start with this one?
I am ashamed to admit that I did not do a thorough research because, "we sell 200-300 homes a year".
My wife and I were on a long hard road to owning a house because of the great paying jobs we hold. When we started the process we were greeted with hesitancy and suggestions of using a particular lender because they are good people. After a lender was found, not theirs, we returned and started all over. This was because the owner's son destroyed the paperwork since the financing was not available at the time we initially spoke with them. After walking through the steps a second time we were told that the deal was in the lender's hands and that was that. Boy were they wrong. Our lender received no notice of what HBV was asking.
We went back to HBV and started to see that fingers were being pointed but no one taking responsibility. The wife and I informed the Owner's son that we would not being using them anymore because no one would pick up and start working on what needed to be done. We were reassured that things would be moving forward again after a 3 way conversation on the phone with our lender and HBV. They were so willing to keep us as customers that they said they'd pay for the appraisal. We decided to stay.
Two days later we contacted our lender to check the progress, which was none. We contacted HBV to see what the delay was this time. We were informed that our lender had sent a lengthy e-mail detailing the difficulties we were having and things that needed to be fixed or adjusted. These were items that a company that sells so many homes should have know about and been a little more diligent in their actions. But due to this email having been sent to everyone in the HBV email list I was told via the phone that the Boss and his son, the president and vice president and every big wig on the email list agreed that because of the difficulties experienced we would receive a refund of money paid and to seek a house builder elsewhere.
And before they can come on here and say I was Hostile, I admit it. But after 2 years of looking around for the right house plans and land, and 6 months of saving money you don't have, and finally being told to go away, wouldn't you?
