Website looks legitimate and the company even has a FAQ section on the commonly asked question on whether they are a legitimate company (see below). If you make the mistake of paying them $50.00 you will see that there are no networking tools & no "GradSpring" job boards. The link on their FAQ only verfies that they are a secure website so you can "trust" that they protect your credit card info on theirwebsite as they fraudulently charge you. There are no "college scholarships", "career services" or "member benefits".

I have never fallen for a emailed phishing campaign until I recieved an email from this company who obtained my name & name of university and told me I was nominated for membership in their "Honor Society". Since my GPA was high enough to be at a honors level I believed this was a real company after looking at the website eventhough I was cautious. [continued below]....

..... Once I paid and filled out my profile info I realized the website does not change after logging in. All the content you can see before you pay that talks about the society benefits is exactly the same so you will pay for nothing if you give them your credit card. The website will show you that you are logged in after paying and this is the only difference you will see after paying. Content remains the same. don't make the mistake of getting ripped off and taken.

Want to be sure they are a scam before spending $50?

Send them an email and you will see that you will never recieve a response from them at :E-mail: memberservices@honorsociety.org

They will however confirm that they have recieved your email and will provide an automatic ticket number assigned to your email.

"Are you a legitimate organization?
Yes. Asking about legitimacy is an important and valid question. When choosing to join a society it is important to choose a recognized organization that provides real benefits. HonorSociety.org was established as a technology and benefit driven society. We partner with exclusive services to provide students the tools to succeed. This includes free test prep courses, foreign language classes, career guides, and job listings. The value of all these resources is close to $1,000 per student if purchased individually, but as an society we are able to negotiate special pricing with such exclusive partners. HonorSociety.org membership is a nationally recognized designation with exclusive privileges valued at much more than membership dues ensuring that students get their money's worth.

HonorSociety.org is approved, certified and recognized by many different entities including TRUSTe, the leading web trust certification. This can be verified on the TRUSTe site directly by clicking here."

Fraud Confirmed by Association of College Honor Societies

AUTHOR: Mike - ()

I just recieved an emailed response from the Association of College Honor Societies to my earlier question of if HonorSociety.org is a fraudulent company and here was the response:

Yes. We have determined that they do not meet the Association of College Honor Societies, but we have also found that the Society has committed intellectual property fraud. See http://www.achsnatl.org/informational_alert.asp.
