Earlier part of 2012, we needed to create an ecommerce site for our business. We were referred to Hostway through our Costco program and assumed that this would be a reliable source.  We paid in full for the template and also paid additional customization costs for this new site.  From Feb 2012 through June, we had gone back and forth with getting this site set up.  However, on June 1, 2012, the person managing the build out of our ecommerce site notified us by email that the Professional Services Department will be shut down on June 2, 2012.  Basically giving us less than 1 days notice that their department will be shut down when our site was not yet completed.  He did go to say that he will come in to work and complete our site.  On June 2, 2012, we emailed and called and no response.  June 4th, we called and the voice message states that their professional services department is shut down.  

We then contacted our credit card company regarding this and a chargeback took place.  Hostway contacted our credit card company and gave them 8 pages of documents stating that we are responsible for the charges and failed to let the claim adjuster know what they actually did.  So upon our response which was documented by all emails, within 2 weeks, our credit card company found that Hostway was at fault and credited to us the charges we paid.

3 months later Hostway contacts us to let us know we still owe them money and they will be sending this to a collections agency if we do not pay in full.  It was at this time that Hostway mentioned that the site is now complete (3 months later) and that the full amount must be paid.  

This company is fraudulent and goes out of their way to hide what they did wrong and not admit fault.  To charge a customer for a product / service that is incomplete is incomprehensible and fraudulent.  Beware with this company....

We have been contacted via email with removal of the collections - thank you for this and is a big step.  We will await from the collections department that this was removed.  Once we receive this notification, we will report back here and conclude this.  Thank you.

Both Tim and Emily had responded to me by email - their email is billing-sp@hostway.com (seems they both monitor this email).  Our last 4 acct # is 0844.  I am sure they can pull this up as the details I have included in this report is very detailed. 

I would be extremely interested to see how good hostway's support is.  From my research on here and other sites, their rating is pretty poor, which I now understand why.  

Again, to charge a customer for a partially completed site and to shut down this service in the midst of this process is unthinkable in the business community in the USA.  Now, to add insult to injury, your company tries to come after me and my company for full amount even after my credit card company found that the fault fully lies on hostway?  And to reiterate, Hostway did not even bother responding to my credit card company after I provided full docs / email transcripts.  

Now, your company has sent this to collections to try to recuperate the monies that are undeserving of your company.  This is truly fraudulent when knowingly with the events that had taken place, your company would send it to collections.  If this is not fixed and our credit is hurt because of Hostway's fraudulent activity, we will take legal action against your company for damages that arose from your company's willful neglect and intent.
