I booked on Hotwire.com and was provided example 'pre-booking' hotel brands that did not match the quality of my final booking. The rate I was charged was also $11 higher than the locally advertised rate. I called Hotwire and was quickly transferred to a friendly customer service representative, but she would not honor the Hotwire low price guarantee because I had accidentally selected the 'default' two adult reservation, not realizing that a single person rate would be less expensive. I only required a single adult room. When I got to the hotel, the hotel did not have access to my confirmation number and it took a great deal of time to get everything straightened out. Luckily, the hotel representative was very helpful and professional. Hotwire.com is a BIG hassle, and there is a very good chance you will not save money by using their service. I mentioned to the Hotwire represenative that $11 is not worth arguing over, but that I would not use their service again. She apologized that she was unable to help, thanked me for the call and transferred me to a pre-recorded customer satisfaction survey.
