You MUST pay it down!
AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 03, 2008That is essentially correct. However, you can pay it down so that the average daily balance is BELOW $300. They will continue to assess over limit fees to the account everymonth. They may also be assessing late fees as well.
If you cannot pay the full amount you need to pay it down so that the balance is BELOW $300-this will stop the assessing of the over limit fees.
""I even tried to pay it off and a reasonible amount and they wouldn't even consider lowering it at all. I always pay the minimun amount owed and it still keeps going up and up. I hope someone can please help.""
This is part of your dilema! The minimum amount due is based on the INTEREST rate, not the assessment of late fees and over limit fees. You will NEVER see the balance go down if you continue to pay the stated "minimum payment." You must get the account balance BELOW the limit, and below the limit enough so that the assessed interest and any service fees do not put the account over the limit again.
In other words; pay it down so the balance is $200 or less.
I would pay them $600. They won't close the account but at least that will get the added fees stopped. You're being killed by the fees; overlimit, late, etc.
