Search Tipsi have worked for a couple of locally owned gas stations, and i can tell you that the main reason they change prices is because another gas station close by went up on their price. hucks is a smaller chain and not national. i would bet that one of the national chain stores nearby went up on their gas and hucks moved up to match it. that's right, it usually has to do with what everyone else is charging, and it isn't just hucks that does this, they all do. watch the gas prices in your town for a couple of weeks, and you will see that no matter who is getting a delivery, or when, if one store goes up on the price, most of, if not all the other stores in town will match it within a couple of hours.
otherwise, it was probably just what the other lady said. occasionally the smaller chain will go up before the national chain, and it is because the price they will pay for the next delivery went up.
funny how no one ever cares how long the gas has been in the tank when the price goes down. also i find it strange that people fly off the handle at the clerks over the price of gas. even the store manager has no control over the prices, let alone the poor sap at the cash register. i have been cussed out, insulted, and threatened with violence over gas prices in the past.
If the wholesale price goes up 10 cents, then their price will go up 10 cents as it now costs them that much more to purchase the new truckload of gasoline. No gas station changes their price when they receive a delivery, I've worked for 3 different chains at 18 different stores in the last 10 years.
So don't be upset at the gas station, they are following standard industry practice.
