The service and support that I have seen so far is very poor.
The service was advertised as a premium service but what was delivered was actually poor second rate service, using old technology like proxy servers and cacheing servers that hold static information about the internet, this creates a layer between you and the Internet, this is not disclosed to the user prior to signing a 24 month service contract.
Bandwidth is charged at a high rate yet you cannot really achieve the rates they advertise or even close to those rates,
Port 80 is throttled to the point that you cannot make much use of the service, forget video or watching a youtube video, the service is far too slow for that.
This is a very sad service, once you pay you are effectively cut off from communication with the company because they outsource all billing and technical support options to non english speaking personal who do not understand what you say.
If you call into the company like I did today they hung up on me,(
I feel that hughes net users need to go to court and file a class action lawsuit to remove the proxy server and caching server technology,
(which is used primarily in dial-up operations to offset connectivity issues)
Hughes net, advertises that they provide service that is far better than dialup but the service they actually provide is actually the same thing as most dial up companies offer consumers.
This is a problem and needs to be addressed.
I would like to see more aggressive use of technology to provide the service that is advertised.
which means eliminating the old style proxy server configurations and cacheing servers in favor of static IP addresses and real time network connections.
