When we applied about Hughes Net Satelite internet, was told we could get 250 mps,1000kps For about 80.00 per month, when installed speed test revealed 0.04  far less than 1000 kps.   When we contacted a telecomunication rep. from India that I could not understand was advised after many Attempts to make him pronunciate and talk slower he said we reached our daily limit of 250 mps, Then told him we were not advised of any caps and that was deceiving. Rep. said we could upgrade to 450 mps, $109.99 per month would get 2000 kps.                                                                                                 Still cannot use system with 2 computers or download, play games, has poor loading speed( slow as dial up) I'm bieng Ripped Off.

Sorry you have to deal with Hughes Net....

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

What you are dealing with is known as "FAP" (Fair Access Policy).
Loosely translated, it means, "we seriously oversold the satellite and we throttle everyone back after using a fixed amount of bandwidth."

Tech support can't help you, and upgrading won't help much either. I wouldn't want to be a Tech rep for them, they know there's nothing they can do that will make much difference.

Hughes is in a catch-22, to make a profit, they have to sell more service than they can sustain for any length of time.  If they limited the number of subscribers, the price would be astronomical.

They HAVE covered their collective butts with the "FAP."
It's in the agreement you signed, along with a monetary penalty if you cancel early.

Yes, they're a little deceptive in their ads, but NOT dishonest.

The Hughes Net "girl" does say "download that video CLIP."

If you have any other options, you'd be better off, but carefully check the early penalty clause in the agreement....they will NOT waive it.
