Three weeks ago I moved to a new home to better my family. I called HughesNet to cancel my services at my old location. They immediately started to tell me that they were going to charge me a $300 early termination fee. I then told them that due to where we live we are not able to get their service any longer because of all of the trees. We would not be able to get a signal. Then the so called manager named Cindy in the Phillipines stated that we only had 2 options the pay the fee or to continue to pay for the service at the old location even though we no longer live there. They stated that since we were at an established location where we could get service, it was our fault. When did internet service become a deciding fact in purchasing a home??? She then told me "just pay from the service ($69.00 mth at) the old location because you mught move back''. I was livid. So then I asked her, "If my mobile home had burned down at that address, then what? Would I still be charged? She stated, "YES"! I would still be charged the termination fee or would still have to pay for monthly service even if my house had burned down. I told her that was not possible. You cannot charge people for service that they are not getting and that was uinfair business practices. She all but said yes you can. They are very rude people. She was continuously trying to cut me off while I was talking. A company like this should not be allowed to operate. I told them to make sure they notated my account good. I told them to cancel my service. Then she said you will be charged $300. I said, I am not going to be charge when I cannot get the service anymore and for her to notate that I will be getting someonw else involved.
