Hughs Net takes advantage of Seniors.

My Mother, 78, order hughes net service. They put up the satelite, etc.

After several days of not getting service and not being able to sign on my Mother cancelled due to lack of service. She tried several occasions to resolve the issue on the phone but there was no one willing to come out or take the time with her to get the service up and running. If anything the service was poor, the temperment was short and removed from the problem.

My Mother called to cancelled and was informed that she needed to remove the satelite radio from the tree it was installed on and returned before Hughs Net would cancel. Now, I dont know about you, but I would say that is the ultimate of laziness and bad business practices; Like my Mom was going to climb up a tree and retrieve that satelite. Unbelievable!!

So what happened? She called and paid for a differnet service to come to her house and remove the satelite. She got a receipt that the satelite was removed from the tree. With the receipt and a witness she packaged the radio satelite (Note, One of the items my Mother had to return, she called a radio, I am really not sure of what the second one was called. I assumed satelite) Anycase, she packaged both objects or all objects required to close the account and with witness mailed them back to Huges Net. She also has proof of mailing.

She did follow up later and spoke with a women on the phone. The women confirmed that Hughs Net did received the package and contents and that the account was closed. My Mother was relieved. She felt that relief for about three months when to her shockness, her checking account was overdrawn due to a debit from Hughs Net for 200.00 dollars.

My 78 year old Mother has been communicating with her sorry bank, Citizens and Hughs Net. Hughs Net did not have the authorization to charge my Mother and the bank should not of allowed them to take out the money. Hughs Net informed my Mother that they did not get all the contents in package. My Mother informed them she had receipt and a witness that she sent the package with contents. She has argued with her bank that they had no right to authorized and allow Hughes Net to debit her account. I'm in California she is in Louisiana. If anyone can help her out I would be grateful. Good advice or someone take responsibility here. Why take advantage of a old lady? Where does that get you in business? Isn't this some form of fraud? Wasnt it bad enough she had to pay for someone to come to her house and take down the satelite that did not belong to her but to Hughs Net!
