A friend of mine Jeremy Wright asked if I wanted a job selling Comcast door to door for a company named Human Channel Marketing formerly Stampede located on aurora close to the downtown Seattle area.
When I went in to Human Channel Marketing I met Lauren Pine the office administrator however my first impression of the office was that the place was nearly empty. they had maybe 15 folding chairs, a white board, two desks, one shelf and two lunch tables. They could disappear and move the entire office in 20 minutes easily which was my first indication this job was a scam.
Training is practically nonexistent and the hiring process is a joke. The company is comprised of about 4 sales people who earn their paychecks utilizing a pyramid scheme that depends on new hires to achieve sales for the company. Those who accept this job with the idea they will make money are mistaking.
I had no interview, no training, and they even tell you to go buy synthetic urine sold at smoke shops in order to pass your drug test as comcast requires Human Channel to make sure thier employees dont use drugs.
I quit this job after 4 days with the understanding I was to be paid $250 for the time I worked and made 11 sales but when it came time to pick up my check I was told that I wouldn't be paid at all and that I should have read my contract more carefully.
Further I later learned that each customer I sold the service too was getting ripped off. I was told to promise them free install yet the customers were still charged over $100 each for installation. The worst part is that not a single customer is really saving a dime even though that's the pitch were convinced to use and the pretences I was hired under.
In effect all we were doing was getting the jump on the verizion FIOS cabling that was taking place. We would get the customer to bundle thier services with us and show them how they were going to save money by leaving verizion phone and internet service and going with comcast but what the customers didnt know is that we were locking them in and would later raise the price while in fact verizion really has the cheapest bundle prices and thier service would be in thier neighborhood soon.
Human channel marketing is bogus. We would wear comcast badges and t-shirts and introduce ourself as comacst reps when in fact we were third party door to door sales men working as third party contractors.
We were allowed to go into peoples houses and even go so far as mislead the customers by acting as if we were the local service reps for the area promising customers personal service in the future that they would never again recieve after the sale was complete.
The entire interaction with the customers from begining to end was based on a bold face lie.
Here is the pitch .
Hi, im your neighborhood comcast rep and were in the neighborhood today checking with our customer to make sure they have not experienced any un-resolved issues with thier services as we have been performing upgrades in the neighborhood recently.
The customer would typically say there was no issues with thier service however If there was an existing problem we would use this as a way to go into thier houses under the pretence that we were comcast techs who could help them even though thiere was nothing we could do to help. We didnt even the ability to contact anyone at comcast corporate who could resolve thier issue..
Once we were in thier houses we would confirm the services the customers had with comcast and ask them how much they were paying. Soon as the customer discloses the cost of the bills with comcast we would tell them it seemed a bit high to pay and ask if they would like us to help them save money on thier existing services.
Once the customer agreed we would simply upgrade thier cable service to a more expensive package and add our phone service and internet wich would look like it was costing the customer less but in fact was locking the customer into the upgraded packages and preventing the customer from recieveing future promotional prices.
How this works is the comcast cancellation fee, although there is no contract the customer wont have the option to save money when a competing company offers them a better deal because the cancellation fee will outweight the benifit of switching. Simply put the people at comcast and Human Channel marketing know Verizion is installing fiber optic cable around washington and will be offering incrediable deals for all three services soon.
The scam starts by taking customers who dont have internet or phone with comcast and getting them to switch service to comcast by making them believe they will save money with comcast, in the long ruin. In fact they might be when comparing the combination of our cable service with the other companies internet and phone bill especially when being billed seprately.
However, the catch is that once the customer is signed up it will only be a matter of time before the competing company makes offers in the neighborhood that we as comcast reps know are lower prices then our existing promotional prices, much lower.
When the customer calls comcast to say that they would like to cancell they will let the customer know if they cancell there is a cancellation fee wich is typically more then the customer would save by switching services and this is how comcast effectively locks the customer into the comcast service.
What the customer didnt know when they signed up was not only that there would be a cancellation fee but that the price they are paying know is only a promotional price that will go up in six months to a year so the customer loses no matter what and comcast eliminates free market competition with the help of the unscrupulous sales staff at human channel marketing who know all this but are still willing to sell the service and train thier employees to think thier job is to save people money.
In the end if scamming people isnt for you then your not going to get paid taking this job. They will be sure you dont have a clear understanding of this when your hired so that you will give it a shot and use your still trustworthy face to make them a few deals that they wil profit from. These people at human channel sell nothing more then a dream to thier employees and snake oil to thier customers.
Human channel marketing is comprised of the worst type of bottom feeders selling false motivation and a false product. Just as thier office appears the company company will soon disappear when the scam is up
I dont reccomend this job to my worst enemey. In all if you meet quota the most you would make at this job $80 a day and you will work your ass off and sell your integrity to get every penny you make if you make anything at all. Macdonalds would be a less demeaning job and considering expenses would pay much better. The only way to make more money with Human Channel Marketing formely known as stampede is to sell the dream to the new hires.
The company makes its money from what I call the new hire scam. Sales contractors are offered oppourtunity to sell services for big companies like comcast. In this case Human Channel Marketing formely Stampede recieved the comcast contract. Comcast doesnt pay much wich doesnt make the job very attractive.
So Human Channel comes in and says we can sell the product using a pyramid scheme and they set out to hire contractors. Since the job doesnt pay very well and requires a total lack of ethics to sell the service in the manner it needs to be sold the hiring company in this case Huiman Channel Marketing adds a badging fee of $250 - $350 dollars and makes a requirement of the sales person to have 100 sales or this amount will be removed from the sales persons check.
Meanwhile your hiring manager says not to worry about that clause in the contract that it has already been payed for and that the clause is never activated (everyone gets payed). Soon as your hired your told how much money you can make once you get your own staff under you. Meanwhile your new manager is making a percentage of your earnings.
What the supervisors dont want you to know is that 99% of those including you who took the job Quit the job shortly after as they discover that there is no future working for Human Channel Marketing. It becomes apperent to anyone with brain that the entire sales process is based new hires and or on misleading the customer which in this case is really you.
Ultimatly the product that is being sold to you as a good job under the false pretence that the customer is going to save money long term when its simply not true making you motivated to accept the position.
When you discover its all a lie and quit the job thinking you will get paid for the sales you made and that the job is just not for you it wont be long before they tell you that you should have read the contract more carefully. Meanwhile everyone else but you still gets payed.
To add insult to injury the quota is impossible to achieve even for thise who do decide and stay with the company. Those indivduals will eventually be terminated. Becuase the company only has so many leads to work in the first place there really never weas any oppoutunity for growth in the company or to have ones own staff as they wanted you to believe.
The truth is that only those who came in on the ground floor ever make any money at all. Those who do make 100 sales and quit get $350 flat out stolen from them for an ID card and a piss test that costs them $35. You just worked for $7.50 an hour if that was you.
The head of this fly by night sales scam is Lee Roy Whaley Jr and partners Lauren Pine and Jeremy Wright. If you ever see someone with a concast badge knock on your door avoid them like the plauge as they are probably Human Channel Marketing sales staff. To those who purchased the service from me, im sorry I didnt know. They never payed me anyways so I stood to gain nothing. I just wanted a job.
Attached is a scan copy of the BS motivational sales letters they would like you buy into with pictures of the scammers in question. I am owed about $250 and I would like to be paid.
