I wanted to sell or rent an extra timeshare I own and I called the competing company for advice. There, Dave Walzac on Sat. 4/28/2008, referred me to John Riggins of IBD-Marketing for my request. They both were very helpful at first. John Riggins at first gave me some numbers for selling my timeshare at about $16,000, and said he could get as much as $1,500 for a rental. But I had to advance $598.00 first. When I described this transaction and showed her the contract which did not arrive for over a week (5/12/2007), she said $598 was too much and refuses to sign.

The contract is still not signed. When I called John Riggins back to request a refund, he demanded to speak to my wife, but she was not home at that time. He said that I should have her call him for his reasons this is a good deal. Then he suggested why don't I just sign it myself without her approval and send the contract back. No I did not.

This is where I am. Does he and IBD-Marketing have the right not to refund the charge on my credit card? He keeps referring to that he has a taped recording of my original call, but my wife was not included in that call. I feel that there is no signed contract, and even my call which did not include my wife does not validate any claim IBD-Marketing has. The payment should not be demanded until the contract is signed and returned.

I CAN PROVE THAT I'M NOT LYING!

AUTHOR: Naomi - (U.S.A.)

So, I.B.D. Marketing still claims to have virtual tours? Anyone reading this can simply go to the office on any given Saturday and not see any type of "tours" going on!! The address is still :
4699 N. Federal Highway
suites 106,107 and 203
Pompano Beach, Fla
33064
right?

Anybody reading this should definately check out the office. The "salespeople" are upstairs in suite 203 (they don't want you to know that!)

How IBD MARKETING works

AUTHOR: Jami - (U.S.A.)

First, let me explain the purpose of the contract/verification (recorded portion of the phone call). By NOT signing your contract, you are simply delaying YOURSELF from recieving offers from potential buyers of your timeshare. You specifically asked IBD Marketing to MARKET your property for sale, and that is exactly what we do. It states in your contract under the terms and conditions that we continue to market your property until you recieve a satisfactory offer that you accept. It also states that your marketing fee is a NON-refundable fee.

You also agreed to this term on the phone the day you paid your fee. You agreed on the recorded portion of the phone call. If you had not spoken to your wife about it at that time, or did not agree to that term, it would have been better for you to hold off, as also on the recording you were asked if you DID understand ALL the terms and conditions of IBD Marketing's contract. The recording is a legal and binding contract between you and IBD Marketing. IBD Marketing cannot refund your money as your market materials have already been put into place. Just like if you were to go to burger king, order a burger and eat the whole thing before you asked for a refund because you didnt like the burger, which you had to pay for before you could eat it.

As far as the ex-employee's remarks, there is a reason they are an ex-employee, and there is also a reason they were terminated from their job. Their remarks ARE false, as we have properties being matched on a weekly basis. If you were to contact us as a buyer, there are SEVERAL different ways we introduce you to your new timeshare. We ARE NOT just an internet listing company, as we understand that our customers did not purchase their timeshares over the internet and neither will theirs.

IBD MARKETING IS A SCAM!

AUTHOR: Naomi - (U.S.A.)

I was employed at IBD Marketing. The company basically takes people money and laughs about it. The sales people charge an "advertising fee" (which could range from $99.00 to thousands. It all depends on how much the customer is willing to pay) An ad gets created on the company's website, and that's it! No further action is taken to match sellers with buyers.

Customer service tells current customers that the company hosts "virtual tours" every Saturday at the office. This is TOTALLY false. They also tell customers that they have "advertised hits". This is a number made up by customer service to make customers feel as though people are really looking into buying or renting out their property. Current customers can get their money back by threatening the company with the B.B.B. You can also dispute it with your credit card company. It will take a few calls, but don't give up. The customer service supervisor is Shantrell Lawson. Melissa Waters is her supervisor.

Oh yeah, another thing the sales people tell customers is: "if we don't sell or rent out your property in 90 days, we will market it for free". Basically when you agree to pay the fee, you're paying to see your ad on the website forever!

You requested the service... why does you wife have to sign?

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

She would have to sign a property sales contract when an acceptable offer is presented if she is a joint owner etc. But why would she have to sign the listing agreement to merely advertise the property as being available for purchase?
