I agree 100% with the other statements made here. I too am an employee of International Marketing Association/Community Reading Club.

IMA is a very sneaky/shady company. I know everything about both companys. IMA and CRC are the same company.

IMA handles the sale of the accounts.
CRC handles the collections and customer service of the accounts.

Everything that is done is audio recorded.

When the product/service is sold one lie that is very big that really stands out is this.
The company tells customers that there credit card information is entered into an encrypted system and all they see is all XXXXs on the computer screen. This is not true.

IMA/CRC also do NO drug testing and NO criminal background checks on ANYONE. Anyone can get a job there and if you make money for them you will always have a job there. No matter how you act and when you come to work.

Customers are led to believe they can not cancel there magazine subscription. This is not true.

Also if you are a customer you can get ALL of your money refunded to you no matter how much you have invested. Simply state that you will contact the BBB or the Attorney General. ALso say over and over again if you have to that you want to cancel and there is nothing anyone can do to change your mind. They will cancel your account and refund all of your money.

There are a variety of departments ( very small depts) that are used to specifically put more money in the owners pockets. They call to offer you a couple agazines free and that you have to only pay for one. That monthly payment is to cover a 3 to 5 year period and they decrease your payments by making your payment amounts larger towards the end of the call.

Also the options they have for magazines is always getting smaller. When we stop carrying a magazine the customer no longer recieves that magazine either but we still charge them.

The managment staff is paid VERY VERY well some making 6 figures easy.

Though I do not agree with this companies practices it is true that the customer is asked to repeat everything back to the sales associate on an audio recorded device.

There is WAY more that goes on with this company that is bullcrap. Like for example. They supposedly have 10 to 15 different office locations and a rep will present them selves as being from a different company at least 8 times a day.

All of these other company names and locations are nothing more than P.O. Boxs.

I have been with the company for a little over a year and there always seems to be something crazy going on in there.

I for one ALWAYS cancel a customers account and will not argue with them about it.

If anyone would like any additional information about this company. Let me know

they are advertising 2 diffrent type of payrolls

POSTED: Saturday, November 24, 2012

I have only been working at ima for 2 weeks and they only want you to be on the phone for only 3 secs tops and they want you to brief on the phone, when they answer the phone and I tried to persuade them buy these magazines they ask me questions like: why am i nominated for the DREAM COME TRUE sweepstakes, and why am i in the running for the 25,000 sweepstakes, and why am i winning a Mustang GT Ford?, etc., etc., and im totally speechless for words because i dont even know why.!!! Their Credit Card or Bank Card that people use pops up on our computer screen as well as their name and address and SSN.

They tell you that the drawing is held every year and the raffle is July 15, 2013. It tell you that their is no obligation to buy anything to participate in the sweepstakes then turn around and tell you that you have three free magazines but you have to pay for one of them for 4.99/a month and the rest of the magazines would be free for 60 months. they tell you they have hundreds of magazines to choose from but they only have 36 magazines that get advertised on a daily basis it hurts me to kno that the company i work for is managed by complete scam artist's and they are only using my work to fill up their own pockets while they sit back and pay me less money than i worked for...i just want someone to tell me what i shoud do...???

IMA International Marketing Assn.

AUTHOR: BIGB - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, September 02, 2011

I received a call from IMA. They asked me some questions and then offered me magazine subscriptions. I did not want to go through with the payment but they did it anyway. I did, however, get a phone number from them and I called the next day to see if I could cancel. After talking to a representative for a while, he said that he could change my account to only receiving one magazine for one year, and I only had to make that initial payment that I did the day before.

I was relieved, yet I'm not sure if I could trust them. How do I know that I really wont be making any more payments?

Has this company split off to another office in Portsmouth, VA?

AUTHOR: Curious - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 08, 2008

I know someone who worked for this company a few months ago and I heard that there was an arguement between the owners and one of the owners and some employees left the Virginia Beach offices and moved to an office in Portsmouth off of Victory Blvd?

Do any of you who work there or have worked there know where the office is located and if they are still operating as IMA or do they go by another name now?

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

They don't just scam customers, they scam employees too

AUTHOR: Geneva - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 22, 2007

I worked for these people several years ago. I was still in high school and was doing this part time in the evenings and on the weekend. We were selling magazine subscriptions. It was fairly easy work. Most of my sales were to men, whom I would flirt with until they were friendly enough with me that I knew they would buy just because they liked me, and to the elderly, a big victim of this type of thing. Elderly people are lonely and are just happy someone called. They are also easily confused by the figures. I felt horrible about selling to them because we never actually mentioned how much they were paying in the long run. We would only give them the monthly payment amount but honestly, it came to over $700 in magazines over a couple years.

If you were already buying all of the magazines every month, it might be a good deal, but nobody really buys that many magazines religiously. Between ripping off confused old people and the work environment itself (bell ringing constantly, I had to tell customers we were having a birthday party and it got really tough when bells would ring twice during the same call), I couldn't tolerate it any more. I made a lot of sales and the supervisor praised me constantly but I couldn't deal with it. I was making something like $7 an hour at the time. When I told them I was quitting, the supervisor threw a fit. That freaked me out and instead of giving notice, I decided to quit right away. They told me that if I didn't work at least the next 5 days, I would only get something like $5 an hour for the time I'd already worked instead of $7. I was furious but I was a kid and I didn't know my rights at the time. If I knew what I know now, they wouldn't have been able to rip me off. But alas, I didn't, and they did!

Watch out for these scammers!
