I was searching for new homes and mortgage loans and received this email: You are receiving this email in response to your New Home inquiry at Equifax Mortgage Match, a member of the SecureRights Network.  Dear Connie, Thank you for using Equifax Mortgage Match. In response to your New Home inquiry the following companies will be contacting you within the next 24 hours: IMC Capital 800-682-4183 If you are not contacted within 48 hours, please feel free to contact the above companies directly.

When the representative Steve left a message for me it was from a CA phone number. I returned his phone call at the 1800# above. I believed I was being qualified for a mortgage and gave my SSN, DOB, and other identifying information.  He switch the sales pitch from the lending to my credit score and having to obtain a 3-Tier credit report although I informed him that I knew my TransUnion score and just obtained my Equifax report the day before. For $59.95 I was supposed to get the type of report lenders see versus the kind consumers see and I would have the scoring from all three credit bureau.

Now I am aware that I can obtain credit reports from each once a year for free, but that I would have to pay for credit scores; so I agreed to the $59.95 because many lenders require a credit score fee and Steve promised to credit the cost back to me if I got a loan through IMC Capital. He then went on to "promise" a 100 point rise in my score guaranteed or my money back. We discussed items that we knew were on the report and my attempt last year to have all inaccuracies removed and my hope (but unsuccessful attempt) to have the 10+yr old unpaid tax liens removed as well.  He seem to imply that his company was superior in knowing the FCRA and how to have those accurate liens removed for slightest punctuation errors. I gave Steve my credit card so I could get a copy of my 3Tier report, score, and evaluation for $59.95.

All this would be sent to my email address and then on Monday a consultant would go over the reports with me line by line to work on repairing my credit and getting me the guaranteed 100 points. However, regardless, if  they could not, and I was correct about my score being 647, that I would be moved right into the loan from IMC Capital because Steve said that 640 was the cutoff point and I would qualify. When I got my email, it was from a company called Accurise from which I found out that the credit repair incurs additional fees and the 60$ was just for the report. Steve failed to tell me that the credit repair he was promoting was at additional cost.  As follows is the email I sent to the company to cancel my order.

Dear Accurise:

Take notice: do not send me, Connie ****, my Tier-3 credit report, score, and case evaluation to my email address  or my mailing address of  Dover, DE 19901.

Hello Steve Nash,

I Connie ****, would like to cancel my Tier 3 credit report, score, and evaluation. I called the company IMC Capital but when my email confirmation came the product company was Accurise.
IMC Capital has a B+ rating with the BBB, but Accurise has a F rating with the BBB. Thus I did some checking and on RipOff Report many clients speak of the "$59.95" onetime fee that you mentioned and said was fully refundable, but you failed to mention that any credit repair would be additional fees. I feel this is false advertising, bait and switch, and quite frankly false hopes.

My wife has a business degree and ran my credit reports from all four of the repositories last year (many people don't know of Innovis but they don't score). She was successful in having incorrect information removed. And by the way last year's report said Connie L Miller. Anyhow she pulled Equifax and Transunion this year and only Equifax had Connie T Miller. My TransUnion score was 647. Anyhow last year the state of Georgia confirmed the state liens and refused to accept the original tax amount as a debt settlement; no they wanted all of the fees and interest too. Bad enough that the Federal government got me for more than $10,000 for a couple grand in taxes owed because I was 1099'd when the building contractor swore he was withholding taxes for me but did me dirty in deeming me a subcontractor. Nevertheless, it would cost me over $1,400 to satisfy the liens; and furthermore, according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, tax liens can stay on your credit report for seven years from the date they are satisfied or paid. If the tax liens are not paid they can stay on the reports forever; they don't drop off like other bad debts. Therefore, improving my score by 100 points would not happen anytime soon. My Credit Karma score simulator improved my score only to 661 by paying the balance {without cancellation} on my major credit card. Additionally, with one hard inquiry and a new mortgage loan, the score still didn't increase 100 points, which from your comment about the IMC Capital aspect of moving me right into a loan may have implied. I can't speak for you so it is unfair to comment.

Towards the end of obtaining a refund for the $59.95, I (a) called Accurise {within hours of placing the order} and left a message with a "Steve" to cancel my request for the Tier 3 credit report, (b) called my credit card issuer and put them on notice that the pending charge of $59.95 is and will be disputed {and that we called to cancel the order within hours of placing the order}, (c) sent this email to support at accurise.com, (d) filed a complaint at the BBB for false advertising, bait and switch, and non-disclosure, and (e) filed a complaint with the FTC for false advertising, bait and switch, non-disclosure, and implications of promised credit repair in the face of the FRCA time limitations for tax liens, and our comments that we have been proactive in verifying accuracy of my reports.

Again, please take notice: do NOT fulfill the order for the Tier 3 report that I placed at 6:30 pm EST because I am requesting a full refund. I have a right to change my mind and cancel my order within allowable time limits and especially since I have sent notice to you and Accurise to not send product or service to me because the order has been canceled.

Sincerely,
CLM/tkm

refund

AUTHOR: redi4 - (United States of America)

oh really melissa you are happy to give refunds?  then you want to explain why i had to go to my bank, file a charge off, and i am still waiting for my refund?  i am so happy you have chosen to put this is writing as now i can fax this to my bank and it should resolve my issue on my lack of cooperation from your scamming company.  dont you wonder why so many people are writing negative reports and everyone has the same complaint against this company?  if you cant get folks to sign up with legitimate claims and follow through with your promises then maybe you should look elsewhere for your career.  or here is a thought, how about delivering what you promise instead of scamming folks out of their hard earned money?
