I sent a request for a signed contract that proves that I orderd this and they have refused. All I got from idearc was a "terms & conditions" document.
To top it all of , the collector now states that Verizon has "renewed" the advertising and has added another 189.00 to the bill. Verizon states that they sent a "renewal notice" and since I DID NOT RETURN IT, they assummed that I wanted to continue this adverising that I did not order in the first place. "HELLO". if I DO NOT RETURN SOMETHING. I DONT WANT IT!
When something comes accross my desk that appears to be a solitation for advertising, I chuck it in the trash.
I have filed complaints with the FTC and the FCC.

#2 Consumer Comment
Idearc ex-Customers, Contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in Washington about Verizon and Idearc Billing Practices for Directory Advertising

Verizon Communications, has outsourced exclusively, its phone directory business to a company named Idearc Media Corp.
Idearc Media Corp.'s billing practices are at issue here. Idearc has created a contract so difficult to work with, it is arguable whether this contract would ever hold up in state court. A contract is binding if signed and if it follows state contract law.
To compound matters, Idearc is very difficult to contact to resolve matters. Idearc has built a system where they frustrate their customers by blocking contact and then use collection agencies to apply their billing charges.
Verizon itself has no interest in getting involved with these matters and directs back to Idearc. The FTC can act on this issue, but the FTC needs filed complaints from those who have had issue with Idearc's practices.
Contact the FTC in Washington at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ or call the FTC at 1-877-382-4357 they will issue an FTC reference number.
In short, Idearc, through it's billing practices and collection agencies, appears to continue to bill improperly and it seems as though small business, the backbone of the nation, is paying for it. Verizon, who has contractually hired Idearc, sits back, ignores complaints and collects the contractual benefits.
Does anyone know a good lawyer who wants a piece of Verizon?

#3 UPDATE Employee
Idearc Media -- Verizon Yellowpages

Send me your business name exactly how it appears on the bill and I will look at it for you. Could it be that one of your employee's said they were able to make the advertising decisions for the company? That happens a lot more than you would think. We send over a contract and if they sign it, how are we supposed to know that they are not authorized to sign for said advertising?
Yellow Pages is not a scam. I have many more clients that shower me with praise and compliments than complain about something that is for all intensive purposes... a bunch of B.S. Again, send me your company info and we'll get to the bottom of this.
what ever you do...do say "OK" to these people on the phone.
