The next day I tried to return the mattress. I still had all tags attached at the time, and i covered the mattress back in the plastic. Ikea refused to take it back since the plastic was open. They would not budge from their policy of no returns on bedding.
Although I interacted with two employees while buying the mattress, I was never told that their were no returns. We were told after that there were signs up in the mattress marketplace area, and there is a small faded font explaining a no return policy below their product guarantee on the back of the receipt. Much more clear on the receipt it says that I have until Nov. 9 to make returns.
The mattress continues to be uncomfortable despite multiple foams and pads I put on. I have written Ikea's corporate office and so far have only received an automated message stating their return policy.
