Driving to Chicago after years of taking the bus or train from Milwaukee I missed the new toll set up where most lanes now are for I pass/computer read payments. I stopped at next ramp to see how to fix my error and was given a pink brochure with the steps to pay on line in 7 days to avoid a fine.

I paid my online fines and follwed steps on brochure. Six months later I get a letter stating that I need to pay $65 fine or appear in court. i call Illinois tollway and wait on hold for15 min. I explain the story and provide all my information to have the operator say that she can not fix their problem unless my husbad calls and says it it ok for her to talk to me since his name is on the vehicle registration. I ask her is that is why my payments are not reflected ob her computer and she will not tell me until I get my hisband to say it is ok to talk to me. I then get my cell out, call my husband at work, pull him from a meeting to say to her via speaker phone that she can talk to me. When he says ok (now over over 20 minutes have passed) she hangs up on me. I now must call again and start over, and I now am mad. i call again, hold for 19 min. And go through this again ... Then get to the point where they find I paid some of the toll on their computer but cant find the rest. They then say, after another 20+ minute episode that they can not help because the computer is down and to call back after 2:00. At 2:00 I call.......same thing but when I get to clearing this up thay say I need to mail a copy of the check that proves the third toll was paid.....knowing full well they were paid online via an e statement and that there was no check. I am put on hold to wait for a supervisor. This goes on for several phone calls and more than an hour of time to get them to see a $1.50 fee I paid ontime. I finally get clear directions that involve me going to my bank to get them to give me a letter that states that I paid this fine with proof a date. I finally get the supervisor to say I can print out the statement and mail it to them so they can clear their mistqke on the computer. I mail it out that day.

Here is the OUTRAGE. The next day the Illinois Tollway calls my house and asks for my husband. I explain that he is at work. the woman says, just so you know, even though you mailed in your information to show us our mistake you need to call us back in one week to be sure it is cleared and ok with us.

the only way to get satisfaction in cases like this is to just damage some toll equipment.
