Several years ago, about 5, I was approached by a young lady in Menlo Park Mall in Edison, NJ as I was walking with my daugther. She had asked me if my daughter had ever modeled before. I told her no and she said she was very beautiful and had features of a "Precious Moments Doll" and she gave me a business card that read " Industry Model & Talent Studios". She took some personal information from me and said that a talent scout would be contacting me within the next couple of days. I left the mall and went home and told my husband. A couple days later our home phone rang and it was a representative from the Industry Modeling Agency and they wanted to meet our daugther at their studio. They set up a date and time and we traveled from Central NJ to North Jersey to Edgewater, NJ to their studio. When we asked what she should wear they told us to come in for an interview first and they will instruct us at that time. We went to their studio and met with a young woman in a private room. There were modeling agency pictures all over their studio of some famous models and actors and actresses. We were advised about a photo shoot that would need to take place when we came back and were instructed on what type of clothing to bring for our daugther's photo shoot. When we returned 3 weeks later or so our daugther was introduced to a hair stylist by the name of "Nana" and she had her hair done and then she had several pictures taken for a portfolio and changed her clothes several times. After the photo shoot, we were told that when her pictures were developed that we would be called to come and look at them. We also had to leave a deposit for them to develop the slides of her poses. When we came back to review them we were told that we needed to purchase them and that would be a portfolio that would be good for a couple of years. My husband and I spent over $3,000.00 to have our daugther's portfolio active with the agency for 3 years. In all that time, we were never called by any casting directors, movie directors or modeling agencies for pictures with regards to our up and coming model daugther. We were told that after some time if we don't have any casting calls that we would most likely have to have our daugther's portfolio taken again to update her pictures as she ages. We never did go back to have this done as since we never got one phonecall for a modeling or casting role for supposedly "our daugther's precious moments" lookalike we realized that most likely that we were Taken for a Ride. We would like our money back for their lies and deceit and they should have to reimburse every young hopeful parent of a beautiful child that they scammed. Shame on you.
