I have an appointment scheduled with Interface Talentgroup tomorrow. THANK goodness I had the presence of mind to Google them this evening.
Before I found Rip Off Report and the dozens of scathing reviews about Interface's hard sell/big bucks/no result tactics, I came across an article in the Sun Sentinel which said: "Florida parents may be unaware that InterFACE has an "F" or "unsatisfactory" rating with the BetterBusiness Bureaus in two states where it already operates, New Jersey and Connecticut. Parents have filed complaints about the firm's high-pressure sales tactics, its contract and refund policies." And further: "New Jersey's BBB processed a total of 230 complaints about the company in the last 36 months. The company resolved 171 complaints and closed 56 that could not be settled; three remain unresolved, according to the BBB." and "In Connecticut, the BBB has recorded 164 complaints filed against the business in the past 36 months 50 of which it reported as particularly "serious." The BBB says 131 complaints were resolved and 33 couldn't be settled."
They solicited me because I registered with some talent websites on the internet. When I spoke to them on the phone to set up my appt., I specifically asked if there was a fee for their services and the response was: "There is no cost to you". This made me believe that they were legit. Now I believe they lied to get me in the door. Boca is an hour from me, and I really can't afford to waste my time, on a Sunday no less... I already have professional photos and a comp card and they don't seem to do much else. A "real" agency does not charge what they seem to be charging per all these reviews.
Needless to say I won't be going tomorrow, and I might just call them and tell them why.
