I contacted this company about an idea and surprisingly they thought it was great. They claimed they researched it and found nothing like it and wanted me to pay 400 first to put a business plan together. Later I would have to pay up to 3,000 to get a patent. After doing a free patent search, I found that my idea has been patented since 2001. I also contact an another service provider about this company and this is what they said:

1. No address on their site
2. No contact person's name
3. A generic 888 (toll free) number that can't be traced
4. They have 41 domain names registered
5. The general layout of the site indicates only web presence.
6. Additional investigation reveals they are using a street address many
online-only invention companies around the U.S. resort to, to stay hidden. It is the prestigious Regus International (high rise towers), where one rents by the day, hour, week, and month an office facility or pays to have one's phone answered etc. They also rent conference and meeting room space.
7. Invention Resource was registered incognito by a lawyer January 22, 2008 in Arizona with an original Delaware corporation registration too.

THEIR ADDRESS AND SUITE NUMBER IS THE ADDRESS/SUITE NUMBER OF "REGUS INTERNATIONAL":

OK, Mike...

AUTHOR: James - ()

What's the number of the "patent" your friend got? Who bought it or licensed it?

Cut through the fluff and pre-printed paperwork, and what you actually get is drawings worth $300, a web page that even Google can't locate, and a $100 provisional application.  For only $8,000.

How come Advent had to pay tens of thousands to their victims, in a default judgement in the California courts, just last year?

Here's how IRI works

AUTHOR: James D - (USA)

They tell you your invention is worth pursuing, get you to sign on, and eventually take over $9,000 from you. Having gotten your money, their only concern is to stay out of jail by doing the absolute minimum needed to keep you off their backs. They hide behind slick web pages and constantly-changing phone numbers and addresses, which makes it virtually impossible to track them down and confront them. Even your contract with them doesn't have a business address! (Just in case you might ever want to try to take them to court, the contract also waives your right to trial by jury.)

In exchange for your money, you get some slick-looking computer-generated 3D drawings that you could get from any professional draftsman for a few hundred dollars. They put these drawings on web pages with a brief description, which they want you to think are going to be seen by the world. In fact, they don't even bother putting in key words for search engines like Google to latch onto. You'll have a hard time finding those pages yourself, without the links that IRI gives you... there's basically no chance anyone else will ever see them.

They create lists of the inventions that they're "promoting", and send them as unsolicited junk mail to companies all over the country. Chances of anyone with authority paying any attention are very slim. The occasional, very rare success story is fodder for press releases and marketing material.

The "trade shows" they attend are trade shows for investment promomters like themselves (it's a big racket, with lots of players.) Nobody there is going to buy your invention.

I've seen the agreement they have you sign, and the above activities, while pathetically ineffective, do meet the terms of the agreement. Nonetheless, the operators of IRI have been hauled into Federal Court in California for fraud. Google "Denice Thurlow" and "Advent" (the previous name of this operation) to learn who and what you're dealing with.

Bottom line: stay away from these charlatans. What they're peddling is a $9,000 lottery ticket, with vastly longer odds than they lead you to believe.

Again, hope it helps

As, I am sure that phone numbers will quickly be changing for IRI and Desert View Funding as well as addresses, here are a few emails that might help if you wish to contact the company. Denice Hardiman-Thurlow, dh@inventionresource.com, Jeff Mayhall, jmayhall@inventionresource.com, Mary Fullerton (Desert View), DVF@inventionresource.com. Also, wanted to point out a few other facts that makes me know this company lacks something to be desired. If you call the IRI toll free number 1-800-778-8814 and dial ext. 601 for the owner, Denice Hardiman-Thurlow, you will hear a generic recording. However if you dial 1-888-331-0333 (Desert View) you will hear her voice in the recording. This is so the clients will not tie the two companies together. Also, when you dial the IRI toll free number and dial 0 for the operator, you will hear Andrea Peterson's (landlord)voice. Again to detour the clients from asking questions.

Hope it's helpful

AUTHOR: K843 - (United States of America)

I read this and had some information I thought might be helpful and give some explanation. The reason that IRI does not give a physical address is because they want their clients to believe their corporate office is based out of Arizona. However, that is not true. The home office is based out of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The physical address there is 10607 Hwy. 707, Suite N140, Myrtle Beach, SC., 29588. The landlords are Ted and Andrea Peterson. As for a contact person, you may reach the owner, Denice Hardiman-Thurlow at 1-800-788-8814 ext. 601. The generic 888 number mentioned changes constantly for that exact reason, so not to be traced. The company uses Skype. Which is an Internet phone service and virtually untraceable. The lawyer mentioned would be the other owner, Jeff Mayhall. He may be reached at 1-800-778-8814 ext. 602.
The address given is also the physical address for Desert View Funding. That is the 'funding company' that IRI claims to use. However, it is in the same building as IRI and under the same ownership and payroll as IRI. The 'supervisor' for Desert View is Mary Fullerton (aka Susan, Ginger). She doesthe payroll and acts as thebenefits adviser for the entire building. So, when she is telling you that she has no idea what the policies and procedures are for IRI, she isn't being honest. She works right down the hall from Dorthy Pieterse(customer service), Anne Demars (media), Dusty Roberts (art), and the owner of the company, Denice Hardiman-Thurlow.

If you decide to do research on these companies, also research Advent Product and Development and their funding company Triad Resources and National Invention Services Inc. You will find that they are all the same company just operated under different names and in different locations in South Carolina.

I can tell you that several agencies have been recently notified about this company. Specifically the NAACP since the majority of thier clients are minorities. The FTC. The BBB.

As a friend of a former client of this company, I stumbled upon this report and laughed.

AUTHOR: Michael Stam - (USA)

It is quite obvious that this person was never a real client of this company.

As a friend of a former client I watched her idea come to life.

This company did everything they said they were going to do. I helped my lady friend with her compliance to the companies marketing staff and found them to be quite proffesional.

She got valuable information about her product in a data concept report, very professional looking drawings and brochures as well as a nice CD prototype and a patent. I tried to help her do this on her own before she went to Invention Resource and after seeing what was involved it would have cost her well over $40,000.

This is a good company and after readng this report I was reminded of what a company agent said to us about inventions, out of 500 or so million people out there, in most cases someone has come up with something similar to your invention. This person acted like they invented sliced bread or the first tooth brush!

I can only assume that the person who wrote this report has no knowledge of what they were getting into and probably thought eveything was going to be free. Nothing Is Free!  - Stop with the 1-2-3 's and do something about your idea instead of complaining.

Mike
