It will take readers but 5 mins to review this report, and it may save you a lot of time and money in the future to really pay attention to this information.
I was hired on to do a specific job and was never given that job assignment. Instead, I was asked to do many things that were outside of my training and scope of experience. On multiple occasions, I stressed to my employer that I was not familiar with how to do these things. My employer told many of his clients that I was a "Paralegal", which I am not. My employer is a Private Investigator, and according to the Georgia State Bar, Private Investigators cannot hire Paralegals, because they are NOT ATTORNEYS!!! Also, on many occasions, I was referred to as "the help".
Every single time something was not done as he wanted it, I was yelled at, ridiculed, and told that I needed to do my job correctly. After explaining once again that I was neither trained nor hired for this type of work, I was told in a most threatening manner, "I had better learn".
Additionally, I was told that the main way the business makes money is by going to other agencies to obtain information for a lower price, and then over-charging clients for the same services that cost our company just pennies on the dollar. When I asked why they chose to conduct business this way, I was told that "I needed to focus on my duties and not question the way things worked."
Paydays were supposed to be on the first and fifteenth of each month. I NEVER received my checks on time, and even after resigning, I still have not received my checks. Another employee complained of the same issue, and even filed a grievance on this employer.
The employer himself made this statement: "If I get one more complaint against me from the BBB, they will revoke my ability to practice". He laughed about this. I am sure he feels untouchable, since he is a quasi-celebrity.
I decided to resign for many reasons, but the main reason I decided to leave was when I found a cease and desist order from an attorney stating that my employer was not to contact certain clients due to some legal constraints. I helped to work on files for these clients, and I was purposely never shown this correspondence. If I had worked on these files, I would be in direct violation of this order. I believe the purpose of choosing not to show me this was so that my employer could illegally collect monies from these clients.
In closing, this is the worst employment experience I have ever had. My goal of reporting these issues to the public is for one reason: when you become involved with this company, you become involved at your own risk. I have never been treated so disrespectfully in any position, and I would hope that those of you out there who see this report and who have worked for this company will back me up. For those businesses out there who have still chosen to read this far during your busy schedule, this report is not out of spite to hinder this business, but to inform business owners that this is an unethical company that will rip you off.
If this saves at least one person a lot of trouble, I will be satisfied.
