Jxxx requires 3 months of experience prior to accepting an application. They appear to need intermodal drivers (where you may sit by the Chicago railyards for hours on end waiting for a load) more than OTR, at least when first starting out with them. This may be why the author of the report had such a difficult time.

I found a job listing for a dedicated run yesterday with JB Hunt advertised to run out of a city near where I live and so, I got on the ball and filled out their "pre-application" process after which I was directed to another web link for the same company which told me to call their recruiting department. So I called the number and was connected with the JB Hunt recruiting department in Lowell, Arkansas and after a series of standard questions about DUI's, Criminal record..., I was asked about previous experience and here's where I have rebuttal against JB Hunt. I have over a million miles of truck driving behind me, an average of 98% on time pick-up and delivery, a totally clean driving record as well as personal record (no drugs or criminal) and what does the recruiting manager tell the interviewer to tell me? You need to have 6 months recent experience of OTR to be considered for this position. Say What???!
Ok, so the last OTR job that I had was back in August of 2008-just 5 months ago and the reason that I left that job was because I had a job offer to run USPS loads within a 100 mile radius of where I live for an independant civilian contractor but that's still driving a tractor/trailer combination and continued experience.
Aside from the ineptness of these people, I was told that the position was a regional OTR job. Didn't I say that the job listing was advertised as a dedicated run? Yes I did, and yes, that's what the ad is printed as.
Based on the reports that many of you have posted about JB Hunt and my recent experience with their recruiting department in Lowell, Arkansas, I would have to say that there's a pattern of dishonesty with JB Hunt. My final comment? If one can't be trusted in small things then how can they be trusted in great things?

I didn't really feel a need to report it as a rip-off, but JB did the same thing to me. I've been driving for 5 months, but I had had a minor accident (because of me, CRST had to put a patch on a trailer. big deal.). I told them everything on the phone, they told me it would be fine. I went to orientation. Someone else even took the hood off a brand new tractor with 50 miles on it in their backing test. I did fine on all my tests. My investigator confirmed my employment and then told me that i was good to go. Next thing you know, I'm in line for a drug test, and i'm pulled out, told "cdrap denied your application, you need to call your investigator". My investigator told me i didnt have enough experience plus i had the accident. It's like, why did you even waste my time sending me here then?

You know what i REALLY dont get? My dad drove for 15 years, and had a bazillion accidents. Mostly all major accidents. He never had much problem getting a job. All the companies he worked for are out of business now, I almost wonder if that has anything to do with it! We're planning on pulling his DAC just for fun. He's retired.

I got a free trip to chicago, $50, three free meals, and a jb hunt pen out of it. You live near their terminal, so I guess you didn't get much of a trip out of it. I'm not mad about it. But, they reported themselves as an employer on my dac report. . Now every time i apply for a trucking job, i have to tell them i worked for jb hunt for a day. Looks kinda bad.

JB seems to like to waste money. Imagine how many peoples' time they could save, and how much of their own money they could save, if they just did their background checks and hiring decisions BEFORE dragging people to orientation?

I truly don't understand why you posted this as a ripoff report though.
