I called several times to speak with manager and was told "she was out of salon". A dermatologist who diagnosed my hair as being severely damaged due to chemical treatment...nothing could be done to prevent continued hair loss.
J.C. Penney still refused to assume any responsiblity. I filed suit against them and the trial is expected soon. I need reports of similar incidents, particularly involving J.C. Penney. Maybe we can have my attorney file a "class action" instead!

Dear Ms. Snyder,
I am responding to your letter dated July 11, 2002. After my 3rd visit to your Salon on March 15, 2002, I have decided that it will be my final visit to the JC PENNEY salon.
My first visit I picked a hairstyle out of one of your books available in the salon. The lady cutting my hair literally referred to the book for every cut. I left the salon with a surface dried head (wet underneath) and incomplete style.
On my second visit I was limited in time as I had a reservation at your Photography Department. I informed the appointment setter and the stylist of this and that I simply wanted a trim. The stylist informed me that I needed more than a trim and that she would go ahead and layer my hair as I like it. I reminded her of my appointment (I did not wear my watch and I could see no clock from my position). I was 20 minutes late for my other appointment, I had uneven choppy bangs, my hair was WET and by that time my infant was too fussy for pictures. I was not particularly thrilled with the lady who cut my hair, I am 26, up-to-date with style and fashion and she seemed like she was out of touch. Her hair was un-kept, frizzy and dis-colored and she attempted to almost ridicule my hair care products and style of my hair.
My last visit I brought my daughter along. I informed the appointment setter at the front desk that I want my hair dry when I left because I had mall shopping to do. I also requested a cut for my daughter. I explained to the hair dresser that my daughter had just woke up and that she had snarls on the back of her head. My daughter has a sensitive scalp and the hairdresser began spraying her hair and VERY roughly taking a comb to it (mind you she had long hair at this time to the small of her back). With every rip of the comb she was making the tangles worse (my daughters head was being ripped back). FINALLY she took her to the sink and used conditioner on her hair (while I got a nasty glare from her). When it was my turn I told the hairdresser that I wanted a layered cut AND that I needed my hair dry as I intended to do some mall shopping (the other 2 visits I went home with a wet head). At the end of my haircut I had to remind the hairdresser that I needed my hair dry. She pointed to the dryers at the wall and told me to use one of those. I walked over and was fidgeting with it. She came over and turned it on for me, I felt odd and EVERYONE in the salon was staring at me. I have long hair that needs to be blown-dry with a metal round brush otherwise it will frizz. I looked quite silly with my wet long hair sitting under the dryer. After sitting there for a couple of minutes my daughter informed me that she needed to use the restroom. I got up from the chair, informed the hairdresser that I needed to leave because we needed a restroom and that I have NO TIME to sit under a dryer. My daughter was directed to a restroom and I was coached by the hairdresser to sit in the chair and she would dry my hair. My hair was surface dried and I was let go I was so livid that I paid and left, the appointment desk lady was well aware that I was unhappy to say the least. My tip was left at her counter and I turned around and walked out.
For the money I have paid I could have gone to Cost Cutters 4 more times and gotten better cuts. I tip AT LEAST 20% on EVERY service satisfied or not as I know that these people live on their tips. I REFUSE to return to JC PENNEY and spend money for unsatisfactory and shoddy work to say the least. I am not a picky person, I just believe that your stylists have little to no experience and charge a salon price for Cost Cutter service. I also believe that you cater to the older retired clientele that I have noticed when leaving your salon they all have the same hairdo.
I have returned to my previous stylist of 5 years and I can rely on her experience and youthful style. Driving to Ahwatukee is time consuming and costly, but I know I get more for my money and that I will be serviced well.
Unless I can be guaranteed an experienced stylist that can cater to my needs, a cut, blow dry, and an up-to-date style I will not set foot in JC PENNEY. JC PENNEY is not only losing money at their salon, but I have no longer shopped the store. It is no longer one stop shopping for me.
Thank you for your time,
Windy B
=======================
The next appointment I made September 2002 with a new hairdresser. I told her what had happened and that I was told to sit under a dryer. She was DUMBFOUNDED. she could NOT believe that I was told to sit under a dryer as my hair is to the middle of my back!!!!! She then called over the manager of the salon and had me repeat my story. I asked "is this normal for a person with long hair to sit under a dryer?". She said "ABSOL
UTELY NOT!!!!" I left with a great hairstyle and surprise, a DRY head!!!! Wow, my $45 plus tip actually was worth it!
JC PENNEY is a horrible salon and they have no Customer Service skills OR Management skills. Shame on JC PENNEY. They RUIN hair and do not step up to the plate to unsatisfied consumers!!
