It was the most shocking and embarrassing situation I have ever been through.  I brought my 2 kids together on  August 25th at 3pm. We are told we need to wait 15 min. First time we walk in salon I felt very unwelcome. I have to mention unfriendly stuff, no smiles ,no proper greetings. But then is nothing what I was about to experience. Both of my kids were taken at same time. My  daughter went with male hairstylist (who is only person that spoke with my kids actually) and my son with female hair stylist.   I have noticed that the stylist that took my son called another stylist and they both called me.(I am  sorry that I did not pick up her name). I was told that my son has lice eggs and they cannot give him haircut!!! I was shocked !!! I looked at my sons hair quickly  and told them that is just dandruff ,my son never had lice and he was checked 3 days ago in the school too. I also told them that I am aware of the dandruff problem ,but he has dandruff just periodically. In meantime my son was told to stand up from chair! Plus my son and daughter are always together and it would be impossible for one to have lice eggs and other to be fine! But whatever I was telling did not change their opinion!!! All salon ,customers and other stylists they all looked at us like we are from other planet! I cannot describe how I felt!!! It was the most humiliated situation in my life.

In meantime my daughter was done and all I wanted is to disappear, but of course I have 7 years old son to explain situation. He was all happy about haircut and now I have to explain why he did not get a haircut!!! I knew for sure my son does not have lice eggs, but after speaking with salon manager Joe-I was thinking I am dealing with professionals and they probably know better than me. WRONG thinking! I went to car and checked my sons hair there, he has dandruff just on left front side of the head, all hair behind the years, back and right side was completely clean.  MY SON DOES NOT HAVE LICE EGGS! I know that they were wrong and we went to another hair salon. I wanted another opinion. We explained what just happened in JC penny salon and ask them to check my son hair. What relief!!! Yes I was right, my son did not have lice eggs. I was told because he has round flakes just on left side of his head that he has scalp flakes and that different reasons can cause these flakes ,in my son's case these flakes caused not good rinsing after shampooing. I was also told that after couple good rinsing these will disappear .These flakes that looked as dandruff to me are nothing serious and for sure not the reason to deny the haircut! I was offered haircut there the same day at another salon 20 minutes after he was denied in JC penny salon!!! I told them, I will be back tomorrow as I wanted that same person who denied my son in JC Penny salon has a second look.

 If I cut the hair they will think I did it  because  my son had lice, no I wanted him to take  another look at same hair.
We went home and I listen advise from personal in another salon and I rinsed my sons hair very well after shampooing. Miracle happened!!! He did not have any single flake, his whole head was completely clean!!! It was too late to return to JCPenny salon and I could not wait until tomorrow to go back there. We again went to JCPenny on Aug.26thand I asked to speak with store manager. I was told she is not in and one nice lady (again I am sorry I did not pick up the name) listen our story. I told her that my son was denied yesterday for haircut for wrong reasons and explained what happened. I could tell that lady felt uncomfortable  and she said she was sorry about our. I ask her to have someone to  take a second look at my sons hair. She called salon manager Joe-the same person we were dealing the day before. I told him that he was wrong yesterday and asked him to check my sons hair again, which he did. He then told us that he is sorry and my sons hair was fine today. He is not sure what he can do for us  that day but we can again schedule appointment for haircut!!! After I went through the hell and had a proof in front of him that he was wrong yesterday that is all he has to say!!! After all he wants me to bring my son third time in the same salon!!! I would rather go somewhere else and be treated with respect and feel welcome then go again In JCPPenny salon. I asked how is possible that he and his stuff do not know difference between lice eggs, dandruff and scalp flakes. All I got for answer is his stuff was regularly trained and when they are not sure they deny haircut!!! I still have some unanswered questions.

 How is possible that they are not sure? If they work with the hair all the time they should know that!!! This is the MUST!!! They would rather deny and humiliate customer in the front of a whole salon and customers? Now I am not professional  but I know haw lice eggs look after searching the internet and educating myself about the difference between lice eggs, dandruff and scalp flakes. They have to be sure that this is never  happen in the future.
Big question is why my sons hair was not checked completely the first time? If she checked a whole hair the first time she should see that just left front side of the head had flakes. If you have a lice eggs they will easily spread through hair and the most common area is behind the ears. If they checked my sons hair the first time completely they would see that. BUT  NOBODY CARED!!! Joe,you  approached to hairdresser and sow what had been showed to you!!! You never checked a hair completely! It was easier to you to jump to conclusion and deny my son then handle situation how one salon manager should handle. You should make sure the hair is completely checked and if you was not sure you could ask for another opinion, but I am sure that you would know at that time that is impossible to have lice eggs in small area upfront and the rest of the hair that is completely clean. After all you admitted that you did not check the hair completely and all I am asking is why??? You never explained that.
Have you warned other stylists now to check hair completely prior to deny haircut? Have you educate them more about difference between lice eggs and scalp flakes? Have you told them that you and your stylist were wrong? What was done to improve poor customer service in this salon?

 After all this I am sure I will never go again in JC Penny hair salon but I need to make sure they learned from this experience and they are actually doing something to prevent that something like this happens again.  My son got his haircut in another hair salon. I will not mention the name of other salon because I do not want that people think I am paid for advertising of other salon and not telling the true. This campaign should be something positive for JC Penny ,for kids and parents but it turned out to be very bad experience.
After all isnt this company founded on principle : treat others the way you'd like to be treated  ? Not sure any more, but I am sure that nobody would like to be treated the way they treated me and my son!!!

Not too surprised. Do you really think they attract the real talent in their hair styling salons? You've proven their staff is very inexperienced and the management is nonexistent. Spread the word and find another salon.
