I am yet another victim of JD Byriders scams and poor treatment!!  I am a single mom that works Fulltime and was in need of dependable vehicle.  In December of 2006, I purchased a 2003 Ford Taurus from Byrider-Lima. After the salesman gave his pitch and showed me the Taurus that I could drive home that night, I was taken into a room and video taped filling out paperwork (like a criminal).   AFTER filling out paperwork, I was told that the 12 "references" I was required to give them in order to get the car was "only if they had to contact me and didnt have my updated address or phone number".   LIES!!!!   They sent letters trying to "sell" to my friends and relatives!  I was advised (not so nicely!) by my family and a couple of friends that they did NOT appreciate being solicited and were not comfortable being tracked down by Byrider  to get information on me.  When I questioned the dealership, I was told "AH- WE dont do that!! The references are not solicited," as if my family and friends were lying.   I have made EVERY payment on time for the past nearly 3 yrs. It was even set up to automatically deduct from my checking 90% of the time. I recently moved and changed banking information and requested to drop off my pmts for the time being.  After practically begging to be allowed do that -I am right back on the list of reminder calls as if I am an irresponsible person that can't handle the task of making a car payment. Ironically at the same time,  I am now being called and emailed by sales reps trying to get me to come back and buy again, calling me a PREFERRED customer. Explaining I have a low balance account and they can put me into a newer vehicle.  HOWEVER, I was informed that I would still be required to give them a brand new list of 12 people as references and be subjected to their "reminder" calls that my payment is due on Friday.  Some kind of TRUST/CREDIT they built after 3 years of good history with them???!!!!  Not to mention I paid twice what the car is worth!  Over $300 per month for 3 years and my car wont be paid off til Aug 2010. I have been fortunate that it has been a good car mechanically however, half the dashboard doesnt light up - it has been that way since I took it home.  I was told that wasnt "covered under warranty" but if I bring the car in, I would get it fixed cheaper than a normal dealership would charge.  Single working mom doesnt have the extra money to fix something that just happens to NOT be covered.  How convenient for them.  

Here we are 3 years later, still making biweekly payments...not missing a beat when I receive a nasty note from them this past week stating I was in breach of contract because my auto insurance expired.  In researching this, I discovered there was a problem/miscommunication with the auto insurance company that notified them I lost my insurance due to non payment.   My corrected insurance information was submitted to them days ago and today I got a nasty phone call stating there has been NO activity on my insurance and I must call them IMMEDIATELY!   What happened to that "preferred customer" that they appreciate so much?  Not an OUNCE of professionalism or courtesy to realize this is an unusual issue with a buyer who has never been late or caused problems with the purchase of the car. NO consideration - just instant rude, nasty treatment.     RIDICULOUS how horrible they treat people!!!   They prey on people who are starting over and need a chance when regular car dealerships wont offer credit, and even after 3 years of a perfect record of payments, I feel like I have a NOOSE around my neck!       They have alot of nerve trying to SELL to me again!   Fool me once!!  I have clicked on the email to refuse any more solicitations and about one more phone call on my cell from a sales man, I am going to be paying them a visit and telling them EXACTLY what I think of their car lot.
