A Lawsuit is Futile

Also, please don't use www.consumertaxreport.org. It's an advertising website created by the Tax Defense Network to get you to use their services. If you notice they are always listed as the #1 firm. The information on that site is far from accurate and they are no better than the other big firms that have already closed.
The bottom line is this: These firms are all full of honest, hardworking employees who know taxes, know the law, and know they want to do a good job for their clients. The employees are the ones who are each individually regulated by the IRS and the majority of them work very hard to stay up to date on IRS rules and keep their licenses. However, the owners are greedy, manipulative crooks who don't know how to advertise correctly and are always trying to get the most bang for their buck. That combination will always equal failure, because it cripples the employees with too many customers, or with a bunch of clients who don't pay for the work that is actually being done. You'll never get quality work or good customer service in that situation.
To find a good tax firm, just do what you would do when you're buying any other service. Use one that has honest, simple advertising - no talking cartoons or flashing 800 numbers, and no promises that your problem will just go away with no effort whatsoever on your part. You're the one that got yourself into this mess; the firm should expect you to take responsibility and make the effort to fix it. They aren't going to do it all for you, their job is to HELP you. Everything a tax firm does for you you can do for yourself. What you're paying for is their expert advice and a helping hand throughout the process - which can take at least a year or more. Any salesman that tells you they will handle everything is just that, a salesman. Run.

Law Suit?

Is there a class-action lawsuit being filed?
There's a site that reviews tax companies. ConsumerTaxReports.org.
http://www.consumertaxreports.org/
It has a whole list of companies and their services and fees and unethical practices.
These companies need to be held accountable for the people they've scammed.
