I continued to make sporadic payments of $500.00 dollars or more (after paying my bills) up until the month of February 2010; on that day I came by JTF to check on the status of the repair with my wife; and I was told by Bob (the service manager) they were going to get started to work on my vehicle. After going home my wife fell dead within a half hour. About 3 weeks afterwards I informed Bob and Tony that I would be slower on my payments due to the loss of income. Tony told me that it was ok and he understood. I continued to make payments as the money became available and finally paid off the balance owed.
In March of 2012, after receiving my income tax refund I paid off the balance of what was owed. I was given the keys and started the mobile home only to have it backfiring and popping. I informed the Bob I told him that the engine was out of time, and he said that it needed to warm up. After the warm up period, I started to drive and noticed that I had minimal brakes, gear selector was out of adjustment, steering wheel was crooked, and radio didnt work, the fan belts were squealing, and continued backfiring.
I went on the road and it would barely make 20 mph. I then turned around and returned it, and informed Bob of my concerns. He said that the problem was related to a bad carburetor, and reminded me that my original heads were bad and they had to put different heads on this engine.
I informed him that I paid for a remanufactured long block engine. He said that is what I got. I then looked underneath and saw the engine installed was all rusted. I left and called Tony the business operator; and expressed my concerns about the engine and it was not what I paid 7 thousand dollars for. He said that the engine was directly from the ford dealer. I told him that I have never seen a re-manufactured engine delivered in that condition. (My brother and I operated an engine and auto body repair shop from 1973until the present, but I am no longer affiliated with the business.) He then began to rant and rage telling me about how his feeling were hurt, and how he was doing me a favor, and that he would put my mobile home out on the street, and that how he made no money on the my job, until I informed him that I had completely paid him off. I told him that I would buy a carburetor and then see the results.
I purchased the new carburetor and delivered it to JTF on or about may 3rd for them to install.
On May 25th I went and picked the vehicle up and informed Bob that he still hadnt fixed my brakes. He said that it was not part of the job. I informed him that the towing company had to release brake fluid in order to tow the vehicle to them. (I saw the fluid in the street in front of my house.) He tried to tell me that the towing co. pulled my drive shaft, which was incorrect. I also asked him; since you didnt cut off the front clip as you told me would have to be done, then why did you still charge me 7 thousand dollars? His response was, we found a better way. I asked him; shouldnt you have called me and said informed me of that and said that the repair will not cost as much? His response was it still took the same amount of time. Based on my experience I knew that was not true. I didnt want to listen to any more miss-truths; I left removing my vehicle from JTFs property. Not only did I have to pump the brakes all the way home, I stopped to get gas, and it wouldnt start, so I called Bob and he came to the gas station, but by then it started. I managed to make it home and began checking it out. I began filling my domestic water tank, found it to be busted, along with some of my water lines. This was due to JTF not taking care to drain the tank during the winter months, causing freezing of tank and water lines.
I feel that JTF intentionally made an effort to deceive me by embellishing the extent of my repair and did not give me the services that I paid for. Therefore I am asking the court to intercede and I am seeking the total refund of this non repair on the grounds that: 1) the engine that is installed is not a remanufactured engine, (as you can see by the pictures) 2) the scope of work that was initially agree on was not done, (no cutting off the front clip) 3) failure to make repairs on brake system, (caused by their towing company) 4) misalignment of my front end, 5) busted water tank, 6) and the radio, all occurrences happened while in their care.
