This company is one you will regret doing your real estate business with. They are deceptive in their advertising, they promise things and do not deliver, they are poor at best with their communication and they do not value their customers. Before I get into details, let me preface this complaint with a direct quote from the owner, Jason Taylor, "We do not work for you. You are a customer and that is all." I think this sums up the type of experience you can expect from JT's Real Estate Services.

Okay, so here's my situation. My family decided to make a last minute move from New York to Colorado for economic and educational reasons. We had no connections in Colorado, had limited funds and needed to move and find a place to live quickly. Needless to say, we thought we had found a reputable business that would guide us into a great place. Based on the core values posted on their website and in speaking with one of their leasing agents, we felt at ease to do business with JT's Real Estate.

We found a listing that looked great in the pictures and was touted as a great neighborhood, the best value on the block, great place to live, etc. I even double checked and asked up front, "is this a good place to live? Will it be a good place to raise my daughter?" The answer was a resounding yes and the leasing agent raved about how JT's Real Estate was a great company and looked out for its customers. So, we drafted up the lease and signed it, sight unseen. I realize that this is not the most consumer savvy thing to do, but I really felt at ease with the experience. They really did a good job of selling themselves.

Upon arrival in Colorado, I signed the lease and met the leasing agent later in the day at the apartment. What we both discovered, alarmed us both. Before I go any further, let me just say that the leasing agent quit shortly after this incident because JT's Real Estate had embarrassed him by doing exactly what I am complaining about, advertising one thing, but offering another. Anyway, the apartment was the dirtiest apartment I have ever moved into. JT's Real Estate claims to professionally clean and maintain all of its properties and professes to have "luxury" style rentals.

The apartment had grease and grime on all of the floors, counters and cupboards. Their were cigarette butts and garbage left in the cupboards. The drip pans on the stove were black with an inch of charred food and grease on them. The light fixtures all had mismatched, improper wattage light bulbs in them (one even exploded on the floor in front of my 20 month old daughter). There were stains on all of the carpets, a strong urine odor throughout the apartment, and off-colored spots all over the walls. There was standing water in the dishwasher, the disposal did not work and the track doors had no brackets on the bottom (allowing my daughter to push them in). We have lived in this place Since July 9th and it took until yesterday, September 8th for most of these issues to be fixed. Moreover, the apartment did not come with keys to the mailbox and we had to pay for new keys and have yet to be refunded. Making the situation even worse is they did not even know which mailbox was mine.

Now comes the great neighborhood they claimed the area was. To make a long story short, the cops a here regularly, there are gang tags throughout the neighborhood and everyone seems to have 2 or more dogs that they do not clean up after. Actually, when we moved in, there were at least 40 piles of feces in front of our apartment. We asked for information about the HOA and JT's Real Estate replied with, "Yeah, you have to contact the HOA, but we don't know how . . ." Needless, to say, I have to drive nearly 5 miles to take my daughter to an area that is "good" and appropriate for her to play.

Okay communication, I had voiced that I wanted out of the lease as early as one week after moving in. I called, e-mailed, even drove to their offices (which are located in the basement of the owner's house - I guess I should have known they were amateurish by this fact alone), I always got a response long after I made the initial contact. The owner addressed this and said, you need to leave a message, which in many cases I did, but on many occasions I did, but is mailbox was "full." The only time he quickly responded was when I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. Which is why I believe maintenance issues were address recently (well after they were reported).

In short, I just want to reiterate, do not fall for JT Real Estate's claims. They are immoral, deceptive, amateurish, and have poor communication. We just wanted out of our lease at no cost to us (a realistic demand considering their service), but are afraid we will be stuck in our apartment until the end of our lease, next June. Until then, I guess our daughter will be forced to suffer.
