The letter appearing below was presented to Guardianship court in Clark County (Las Vegas, NV). The letter was also offered to Mr. Shafer. During a meeting with Mr. Shafer - desperately inquiring as to why mortgage payments had not been made in months, Mr. Shafer proceeded to curse at us, informing us that he'd do whatever the F*** he wanted with my father and his money. Before we knew what hit us, my father’s home was emptied of all contents and listed for sale! I was never notified of what happened to my father’s personal effects that were in his home. Part of my life was in that home too!!!!! Even if said items were auctioned, marketed on eBay, or trashed, I believe I should have been allowed to purchase some of the things or save the property somehow. Now I have nothing!!!!! Not even our family pictures.
That being said, understand that our nightmare did not stop in Guardianship Court. It continued into Probate court! Yes, Mr. Shafer insisted that he remain in place for Round #2.
The letter reads:
To whom it may concern,
This letter is concerning the meeting with Mr. Shaffer on June 6th of this year attended by Bernadine, ____, ____, myself, & Mr. Shaffer's secretary [name unknown].
Mr. Shaffer informed me he was going to sell my home on C____ against my will & refused to consider any alternatives.
Every question that was asked I was given an answer of (I don't know) or I'll let you know in 60 days. Mr. Shaffer couldn't even tell Ms. ____ when or if she would be given funds for my care as I have been living in her home for a month.
I am concerned about my affairs. It seems my bills have not been paid. Also I am apposed to the selling of my home. I wish to save this real estate.
I would also like to ask permission from the court to approve my daughter _____, & Bernadine ____ to be my legal guardians.
I thought that when I saw an Attorney years ago that the papers I had drawn up would cover this issue.
I have informed my attorney, Mr. ____ ____ of my request & he approved. He may not be able to attend court on June 22nd?, but is behind me on my wishes.

I'm a victim of Jared Shafer. He became guardian of my mother using fraud, intimidation and a corrupt court. Mr. Shafer constantly bragged to me about his ability to bribe the commissioner. On several ocasions he threatened me with a libel suit if I attempted to report him to the media. Mr. Shafer stole my mother's home, all family possessions and the trust, which I believe had over $95,000. Mr. Shafer is a very cruel man. He laughed at me when I told him about another person he had harmed who killed herself. It is very hard to live without my mom's pictures. Shafer wouldn't even let me have some simple post cards my mother had saved. I'm a disabled veteran and Mr. Shafer said I'm just half of a person. I forgive him and ask others to pray for his soul. Mr. Shafer is going to have to face all of the people he has hurt during his life.
