Visit us online for your FREE APPLICATION @ (wwwJBrentsUSA.com)Being as this is 3500sq feet and 1500 in perfect shape.... I call ASAP. A man picks up saying "Al" and it sounded like I was on speaker phone. I asked for John, and he said it was him. Kinda a rough voice. Sounds to be in his 40s or into his 50s. He said we could view the property but that he wouldn't be able to be there in person. But he would give us the lockbox number. Great. Sounds good. We drive there with the kids in tow. The house is as advertised, the lockbox code worked, and the house was perfect. But you could tell no one had lived there in a while. Pool was green, but elec was on.
My husband called while at the house and spoke to "John" who HE said, sounded like a YOUNG guy. Not an older man. Weird. "John" says he works for a "large investor" and it was just his job to fill them.
He tells us to go online and fill out an application and then he will draw up a lease, meet us somewhere nearby and sign and pay $3,000.
Okay........ Every step of the way it gets a lil weirder. So we go home and go to the website Www.JbRentsUSA.com and it redirects you to Florida Data Publishing, a cheap home made website. I review the About Section and the other areas, and think, well, maybe they are just a small group, who knows. I fill out the "application" which was basic personal info. I hit submit. As "John" instructed us, I then text him letting him know I sent it. 30secs later I get a text saying it didn't go through, can you do it again....Well. That's where it stopped for me I think.
Then at 8:45 at night, ANOTHER number texts me saying his name is "Alan" and he needs to get my info for the app since it didn't go through. Now I'm worried. I google the guys name, "John Burgess Tampa" and scam report after scam report came through. All basically saying the same thing. Right as I was reading these things, that same number calls. THIS time, I answer. THIS was a young guy. I had him on speaker so my hubby could hear. (Hubby says THIS guy, does not sound like the one he spoke to).
"Alan" says he's ready to take my info, "First Name?" I said, ok ok ok... I just saw http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/florida-asset-management-trust/internet-florida-/florida-asset-management-trust-or-clear-lake-pine-inc-or-clearlake-pines-holdings-or-hds-963437 about you. What can you tell me about this?
He claimed it was just an angry employee and that they didn't know how to take it off. Then asked if I knew how to do it!? I just stayed quiet and didn't say a peep. He got flustered and started mumbling about time. Then said he didn't want to spend the "3500$" to fix it. "Look, this is just a 1500$ rental, I don't have to do this, I'm just trying to get out of the office."
So not knowing WHAT to do, I played dumb and said I'll call back in the AM and to have a good night. Trust me... None of this is normal or okay. W contacted Hillsborough County, the house isn't in his name or the companies. It's in a woman's name who has owned it since 04.
We contacted our local Sheriffs office and because technically we didn't lose any money, I'm afraid that nothing will get done. I think the basic idea was to have us give them our info, they make a pretend lease, have you sign it, take your money and SAY they will give you a copy of the lease later, or the keys later etc.
There was work that needed to be done at that property, he claimed he would take care of it later....... The nuts and bolts are this:
